Hi everybody.
I have a very strange problem. I compile 2 version of SC, one for user on my LAN and anotherone for user on my WAN. In both of them I have 2 host. One that connect to one computer that is a XP and another one that is a VISTA. They both have the same configuration, the only difference is the port I use. One is 5500 and the other one is 5501.
When I connect from the LAN, I can connect to both computer (XP and Vista), but when I connect from WAN, only the XP host is working. I did the same rules on my firewall to forward the port to the right computer inside.
Because both are working from the LAN I concluded that the problem is comming from my firewall, so I modify the rule to exchange the port number for the XP and the Vista. But the same problem happend. The XP is working and not the Vista. And from the LAN, still both are working ok.
Can somebody can give me a hint???

What happens if you disable the firewall temporarily on the Vista machine ? Does SC connect successfully ?

Re: Viewer Listen mode work from LAN but not from WAN on Vis
First thing first, thanks mcutting for the help.
Ill explain a little bit more the settings. I am behind a Microsoft Small Business Server with ISA 2004. I cannot disable my Windows firewall localy on my machine because it's set by Group Policy on the domain. But I can add exception. What I did.
Same setup on both machine. An exception for "C:\program files\ultravnc\vncviewer.exe". And I concluded that this exception is working properly because when I connect from the LAN it's working.
And at the head of my network, I have my SBS 2003 server with ISA2004 with 2 network card. I create 2 rules in ISA to open the communication for SC. I create a server publishig rule that authorise TCP port 5500 from all network in entrance to be forward to the local IP of the computer that is configure with the corresponding port on the viewer in listen mode. I did a copy of the rule and change the port number to 5501 and the IP of the local computer. On that computer I set the listening port to 5501. So both rules are built the same.
Still, if I connect from WAN computer, and I ask for the host that is on my XP computer (5500), it's working. If I ask for the host that is on my Vista computer (5501), it's not.
I swap the ports on computers and in my rules, and still the same, it's the Vista that is not working (even with the 5500).
It sound like Vista can accept a request that is comming from the LAN, but not from the WAN. But there is no logical explanation for that.
Somebody have a clue???

Any logs on the ISA server in terms of traffic being directed to the VISTA machine ? You could enable TELNET on the Vista machine, and see if you can gain a connection to this on the outside using "telnet x.x.x.x 5500" where "x.x.x.x" is the IP Address.

Thanks everyone for the help.
I didn't had time to work on that problem since. I finally made all the tests I need to conclude that it's not my Vista or UltraVNC Listener. It is my ISA server that is the problem. And it's not the place to discus that. So thanks to everybody who try to help.
