sitting behind university firewall - any chance?

Post by questionesse »

Hi!
I want to transfer files from my computer back home (behind a router)
to my laptop at the university. the university connection seems to block nearly everything (icq, msn etc)
so i wanted to ask first if there is even a chance, that this might work with ultra vnc before i get into it.

thx!

If you're trying to connect to your home PC from school, you could also look at [topic=5890]Tunnel VNC through SSH[/topic] and set up OpenSSH to listen on port 443. Port 443 is used for SSL (https) so it's unlikely that the university is blocking it.

what i want to do is
transfer date (so that nobody is able to monitor the kind of it)
and optionally accessing the pc from remote

what would be the best thing to do it?

thx
