Problems connecting when GPRS kicks in

Post by jason1972 »

Hi,

I have around 40 devices for which I use Ultra VNC as a remote viewing tool over my WAN

The devices have a W-Fi connection at their bases and also a GPRS connection (Orange Network)

The remote access works so long as the GPRS is NOT connected.

As soon as GPRS connects I lose my remote session.

It acts as if my WAN connection is disconnected but I know it is not. I simply can no longer see the device over my WAN - cant ping it, nothing.

Any ideas why the GPRS may be doing this to my WAN connection ?

I believe this is the gateway problem.

Once the GPRS connects, that pc will have one more network gateway , and the communication may route to this new way -- including the VNC session that original run via WiFi, thus break the established connection.

I connected with computers that were using GPRS modem in the Mobile Phone. SC Server had no problem in connecting with my vncviewer.
Client's local IP was assigned in the 10.x.x.x range from the MSP (Mobile Service Provider). His local gateway was also in the range of 10.x.x.x. But public IP was in the 11x.x.x.x range.

you need to use "route" to transfer your vnc stuff packets to your vnc stuff's gateway, or apply similar tricks for the GPRS stuff/channel.

or put your vnc stuff in one subnet and gprs stuff in another. or a subnet under another subnet.
