Not sure about Vista....I would think the server should work fine.

In VNC Server Admin Properties, set ports Main = 5900 and HTTP = 5800.

On your router, open port forwarding and set those port numbers to forward to the IP address of the host machine. (you really should set the IP to a static number.)

Did everything you said except I did not set a satic IP. How do you set a static IP?
I was able to get vnc server to work on my vista pc hooked up to my network here and was able to use the viewer in xp on the same network. But when I tried to connect to my friends pc remotley I had some trouble w/ authentication error. It's saying the password i entered is incorrect. I had him go into admin properties and change the password on his side and used the password to login but wouldn't let me it kept saying authentication error, then I got a session timeout from using an invalid password too many times. Did I set this up right? Is there some other password I need to change? Is there a default password set? Also for some reason the icon in the system tray on the server side is saying not listening. How do I get it to listen for connections? One more question and I will leave you alone, is it the public IP I need to connect to his machine? The IP I used was the IP I got from him when I had him go to whatismyip.com is this the ip that i need to use to connect? Thank you for your time and advice.
