Can't surf on the server...

Post by mrbusiness »

I downloaded the latest version of ultravnc, installed the package on an XP machine. It runs as a service. I configured my router to forward the following ports:

Router - 192.168.1.50 - protocol

5900 - 5900 TCP,UDP

5800 - 5800 TCP,UDP

80 - 5800 TCP,UDP

0443 - 0443 TCP

5500 - 5500 TCP

21 - 21 TCP, UDP

I installed a dyndns updated or the machine (which resides in Sweden) and voila here I sit in China, connect to it through xxx.com:5800 with the java viewer. I can also connect directly to xxx.com as port 80 on the router is forwarded to 5800 on the server.

Everything works, except one thing. When I open up FF or IE on the server and try to surf...I get page not found. I can't surf the web from the server. Does anyone know why?

How about the DNS setting?
Have you checked the log of firewall?

page not found means a firewall or a router is blocking the direct connection to the ultravnc server.

try finding out all you can about the internet gateway firewall and gateway device, and debugging it from there.
