Help with MS logon - I'm missing something

Hello there everybody. I am having a problem understanding how/what the MSlogon check boxes do. I was hoping I could explain what it is I want to accomplish, then get some direction.

I work at a helpdesk and want to install the VNC server on multiple work stations so I can control them remotely. We run a Server 2003 A.D. environment.

This is what I want:

1) I DON'T want to have to establish a locally set "VNC Password"
2) I want to be able to use an AD Security Group I have created as the group that gets access to view the remote work station.

That's all i really want... nothing special. I can't seem figure out how this works. If I click on the MS logon check boxes, and add a domain user or domain securty group, it doesnt seem to change anything. No matter what I do, the program says that I MUST set up a local VNC server password. When I then try and remote control the work station, it prompts for the locally set password. It never gives me the option of using AD credentials as a method of authentication.

What step am I missing? Thanks for any help you can provide.

1) even you don't want, you must set the vnc password, otherwise, mslogon fail

2) mslogon II aka New MSLogon required for Active Directory
remote (where vnc server are installed) should not XP Home at all.
only XP professional edition supported for mslogon II for Active Directory

Thanks for the help. Ill have to dig into those links you provided and learn myself something. Here are the answers to YOUR questions:

1) all my work stations are xp pro sp3
2) I am using the latest release of uvnc, 1.05 (i think thats the latest)

Ok, I figured it out. I WAS doing everything correctly, I just didn't realize there was an additional step after you set your AD credentials. YOU HAVE TO REBOOT THE HOST COMPUTER!

I could make changes to the server config back and forth 100 times, and no matter, it would always prompt for the LOCAL vnc password. So I started from scratch, full uninstall / reinstall, and encountered the same thing. I did a quick reboot, and when the machine came back up, hitting it with a viewer from a different machine prompted for AD credentials.

So, it works. It's just not designed very well.
