I currently use RealVNC and Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) one several PCs. One problem with this is that KIS thinks it's helping me by blocking control of KIS via RealVNC. Any KIS window is immune to control remotely via RealVNC. I thought that UltraVNC might get around this aggravation because it uses it's own driver instead of Real VNC's screen scraping. Does anyone know if that's true? I'd really like to be able to control KIS remotely.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Kaspersky AV and UltraVNC
If anyone else cares, I tried this and UltraVNC is blocked by KIS, just like RealVNC.
Re: Kaspersky AV and UltraVNC
i guess you should add in kaspersky an expeption to UltraVNC
all antivirus have an expesion where you can set which programs to ignore

Re: Kaspersky AV and UltraVNC
plouf,
I tried this before with RealVNC and an earlier version of KIS. It had a single check box to protect or not against remote control of KIS, but the check box didn't work: it always protected. The new version has no check box. KIS provides very precise control of what behavior by a specific program to allow, but remote control isn't one of them. I'll post a question on the KIS forum, but I think I may be stuck unless I switch to a new AV product.

I found this topic How to detect trusted riskware in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 at Kaspersky's offical site.
See if this can help to solve your problem.

Re: Kaspersky AV and UltraVNC
YY,
Thanks for the research. The article appears to be spot on my problem, but it refers to an older version of KIS. They've changed the Settings UI so much that it's hard to tell what maps to what. I've tried some things that seem to correspond to what the article says, but they haven't worked. I also searched KIS support using keywords suggested by the article, but that yields nothing.
I've sent a support request to Kaspersky. I'll see what they say. If I get something helpful, I post the answer here.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Kaspersky AV and UltraVNC - SOLUTION
After way too much research, support queries, and experimentation, here’s the way I found to control Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) from a remote control program like TeamViewer, RealVNC, or UltraVNC. I used KIS ver. 8.0.0.454, Windows XP home, and switched to TeamViewer ver. 3.6.4756 from UltraVNC.
1) Uninstall KIS. When it asks, It’s OK to keep information for the next install. Reboot as directed.
2) Install KIS. Select “Custom Installationâ€, not “Express Installationâ€. When it asks, it’s OK to reuse information from the previous install. Uncheck “Enable Self-Defense before initializationâ€. When it asks for Types of Threats, I unchecked “Other malware†and “Other programsâ€, but I don’t know if that’s necessary. Reboot as directed.
3) Go to KIS /Settings/Threats & Exclusions/Trusted Zone/Trusted Applications. Click Add. Enter the remote control program (TeamViewer.exe for TeamViewer), and check “Do not monitor application activityâ€. (There may be multiple executables for your remote control program; you may have to experiment to find the right one.) The change takes effect immediately.
Enjoy.
