Let me start by saying, yes, I read the faq. I'm not sure I understood the English, however.
I am using RC18 Server on an NT 4 Server SP6a box, that I am trying to view using an RC19 Viewer on an XP SP1a box. My problem is that I can not consistently connect to the NT 4 box unless I have first logged in to it. This appears to be a problem with the service, but I have synchronized the settings as suggested.
I read the docs, but the info for -servicehelper wasn't of much help. What does -servicehelper do?

Service Problems
"-servicehelper" allows the service to impersonate the currently logged on user. This lets the service access the user's HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry settings for configuration, instead of the SYSTEM user settings.
Are you sure that Ultra has been installed as a service on that box? Sounds like you're running in user mode.

Yes....But I'm a moron....
Yes, I am quite sure. I actually tried using servany and instsrv to install the .exe as a service manually.byteboon wrote:Are you sure that Ultra has been installed as a service on that box? Sounds like you're running in user mode.
It turns out I wasn't waiting long enough for the service to start before logging in in frustration. Sorry, I'm a moron....
In VNC/VMware heaven....
Thanx.byteboon wrote:Glad you got it.
Thanx for the heads up. Once I got it working with srvany, I removed the servany service entry and reenabled the -service normal service entry. You may find that some features don't work exactly right if you use srvany. VNC sets an internal flag when it is run as a service that would not be set with srvany... so it would be stuck running in user mode as user SYSTEM.
Now I have access to my NT 4 test systems' consoles while they are running under VMware as services.
