Hi,
How to make connection to the host server with VNC viewer without someone login in to the server? Is there any configuration to the VNC Server?
thank you.
Sincerely,
henry

Can't access host server without logging in
Re: Can't access host server without logging in
Hi again,
I will try to describe my best to explain the condition.
1. Computer A (Host computer - server computer)
2. Computer B (Client computer - using viewer to view Computer A)
Condition:
If someone in computer A logged on with VNC server service is running, I can connect easily via VNC. However, if there is noone logged on in computer A, then it said "failed to connect to the server"
Question:
1. Is that possible without having someone to log on in the server in order for client to view it remotely by VNC viewer?
2. I tried to restart the service (Start Service - Needs to be previous installed). I tried to fill out username and password and it did shut down but it never came back to tray icon. Do I need to set up another configuration?
If this has been discussed before, please let me know the link.
Thank you

Re: Can't access host server without logging in
I've got very simillar problem to Yours - I can't login into VNC server without phisycally login to windows. After every restart I have to go to my server, login in to windows as windows user (in my case it's admin) and only after that all services are started (I think) and I'm able to connect to the vnc.
Re: Can't access host server without logging in
Exactly the Problem i'm having if you Restart your host server box, you then have to enter your Windows User name and Password to login to the desktop and for Uvnc to run, and that can only be done by going to the machine in question and physically starting it yerself, unless??? We need some sort of automatic Windows login??? not much good if your in a different city or country and your server box needs a restart.

good question but missing the important part...
OS = windows xp home... xp pro , etc..
ultravnc release ?
or better
uvnc server date build
uvnc viewer date build
Answers:
1. Yes, UltraVNC and any vnc clone is made for this.
2. Maybe you have the UltraVNC 104RC16 (12 May 2008)
you need update 26 June 2008 not yet available on website only available via topic 104
[topic=13047][/topic]
stop uvnc_service or close vnc connections
replace the files.
start uvnc_service or start winvnc

So does that basiclly mean that the Windows login password is not required only the Uvnc password?xrvjorn wrote: - Install VNC as a service.
- Start the service manually.
- Set the password.
The problem is that when the VNC service is started automatically, it will just complain about the missing password and shut down before you get a chance to set a password. Starting VNC and setting the password there, sets a separate password - almost drove me nuts before I found out that!
Summing up the pitfalls:
- The password you set when VNC is started as a regular application, is not the password that VNC uses when started as a service.
Re: Can't access host server without logging in
mavdog ,
no, unrelated
vnc password and windows logon is totally different
for unblock windows user/password, winvnc must run as service system (with windows not from startup folder
do not confuse:
windows logon user/password (ms windows)
ms logon aka new mslogon or (ultravnc only)
vnc password (any vnc)
or i don't understand your request.

Apologized in advance for late replying. Well, it seemed that it has been discussed and you provided the solution. My question was asked around April 30th 2008, so the May version or June 2008 version were not there yet. I will try to play with it and will come back if I find difficulties.
My OS are Win XP Pro SP 2 and Win 2003 server. Thank you.
