SC from public areas such as Hotels
SC from public areas such as Hotels
He is my situation. I have SC setup so I can direct my clients to a web page which has a link to download SC. This works great if I am in my office where I have forwarding setup in my router. Occasionally I go out of town and would like to be able to offer support with the same ease when I am in a hotel room, or elsewhere, and I do not have the ability to setup forwarding. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: SC from public areas such as Hotels
OK, forgive my ignorance, but what is SC with ID? I know what SC is, but not ID. Please elaborate. Thank you.
Re: SC from public areas such as Hotels
I am also very interested in a solution, and also don't know what is meant by supplying an ID to the Viewer and SC.
In a hotel room it is impossible to open ports on the hotel LAN, so both SC and Viewer must be able to somehow connect to each other. Maybe a stupid idea, but what about a php script on the viewers web?

setup a repeater (or use the public one) to work with your SC ...
alternatively try vnc2me (esentually a UVNC SC copy of showmypc) ... its still in alpha at moment, with no easy setup, but give me time, and i will have an easy setup enabled
PM me for the latest test version (with a test server setup already)

Re: SC from public areas such as Hotels
I am also desperately looking for a solution to this.
I have my own Linux server on which I can set up whatever is needed to make it act as a relay/repeater/whatever. But what is needed?
The Nat-to-Nat page (http://www.uvnc.com/addons/nat2nat.html) is specifically about this problem, but it mentions a "Nat Helper", without further info. Where can I get a "Nat Helper", and how do I set it up on my public Linux server?
I also came across "echoserver" (http://echovnc.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/6.html), which seems to be designed to solve this problem, but once it runs on the server, I don't know what to do to connect my viewer to the client's VNC server.
So, how do we configure a server to help in connecting a VNC client and a VNC server when they are both behind NAT?
Does anybody know?

Hi
The echoserver is setup on your linux server and the client can be issued with an application called InstantVNC which you can configure with your echoserver details for connection, and even a graphic of your choice so that you can show your company logo. The User name that the client logs in as defaults to the machine name but can be over ridden.
You also login to the echo server from where ever you made be in the office, out on the road using echovnc you can check for people already logged into the echoserver and choose to connect to them to view/take control of their pc.
As both sides are outbound connections it is able to by pass firewalls.
Hope this helps
