Can't get SC to work

Post by ScatterBrain »

I've tried for nearly 4 hours to get a working SC compiled (using the online creator).

I get the EXE file it looks and seems to operate as expected. I start UltraVNC's viewer (v 1.02) in listen mode. I've set my router to forward port 5550 and try to make a connection. The exe on the client machine says "Trying to connect", just as it should, but I never get a notice on the support side.

I'm wondering if it's because I have two NAT routers in the middle. Like this:

Client PC ------Router ---- Internet ----Router ----- Support PC

On the client side, I have a soho type router (Linksys WRT54g-gs) On the support side, I have a Linux-based IPtables NAT router. I do have the support router set to forward port 5500 to the support PC, but still nadda.

(I didn't know what might be needed at this point to help troubleshoot the problem, so I haven't attached any configuration files yet. Just ask and I'll forward those to you as needed.)

Thanks in advance for the help....

Hi,
this is what I think You should do:
1. Configure Your router to port forward this VNC port 5550 to Your PC's IP.
2. When You start Your VNC viewer in listening mode, You have to change the listening port to 5550 because by default it listens port 5500.
To do this, make a shortcut of the viewer.exe and edit it.
viewer.exe -> properties -> shortcut -> add to the Target line: -listen 5550. Then click ok and execute the shortcut.
Move the mouse to the taskbar over the ultravnc icon and a text appeares ... listens port ...
Now it is set to listen port 5550.
Here is a picture.
Hope my solution helps :)
