Unable to connect on my local network

Hi,
I need some help with my local network. I have laptop and desktop with dedicated ips 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.103.
I have Ultr@Vnc client/server 1.0 RC19 installed on both.
I can ping from one to the other, I can mount disks from each other.
I can connect from my laptop and my desktop to my computer at work (VPN).
I can connect to to my laptop from my desktop, and I can loopback from my desktop to my desktop.
But I cannot loopback from the laptop to the laptop (when I allow it), and I cannot connect from my laptop to my desktop (failed to connect to server).

I use standard VNC authentication.

Laptop runs Windows XP Home, SP2, desktop runs Windows XP Professional, SP2.

Note, I have the same problem, when I use tightvnc.
It worked till recently, but now it fails to work.
I see nothing bad in WinVNC.log log files.

Anybody has some suggestions or ideas what should I try?

have you disabled all personal firewalls on ea. computer?

Thanks for the help, but somehow magically it started working . I have rerun Network ID wizard from System/Computer Name Control Panel on my desktop, rebooted both laptop and desktop and it works now. You have to love MS networking.
