My goal is to be able to assist family members using the vncviewer on my side and have them opening the "UltraVNC SC (SingleClick)" file, i've configured the helpdesk.txt file, but so far i am only able to connect to the viewer from the singleclick side only within the same network, can anybody assist me on how to get this working in different networks? My plan is to use an ID#:9633 and use the encryption using the MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm file. Please advise and your help is greatly appreciated.
Thx.

Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
Never used or tried using an ID but I did use dyndns address on helpdesk.txt and relevant ports DSM plugin and RC4.key.
Forwarded ports 5500 to viewer address on router, simple really all instructions followed as explained here.

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
Thank you for your fast response, i've done what the site says. I've tried using it w/out an ID leaving my helpdesk.txt file as follows.
[HOST]
Agent Support - No Encryption
-connect 192.168.1.102:5500 -noregistry
my laptop is the one that has the SC file in the destop with the helpdesk.txt file as above, but leaving it that way i am only able to connect from my pc at home running Xp pro. with vncviewer and vncserver installed only if the laptop is in the same network, if i connect to an outside wireless network, it won't let me connect to the laptop, am i doing something wrong?
what should i put in the vncviewer fields where the vncviewer is installed on.
VNC server: [what should i put here]??
Use DSMplugin: currently i have MSRC4plugin.dsm
proxy/repeater: [should this be checked? or what should i put here?]
Thank you in advance.

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
This 192.168.1.102 IP is your internal IP you cannot use that to connect externally.Thank you for your fast response, i've done what the site says. I've tried using it w/out an ID leaving my helpdesk.txt file as follows.

You will need you external IP (find out what it is here http://whatsmyip.org and I recommend you get a domain from dyndns or noip.com
You will need to use this dns name and login information onto the router so that it updates itself.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 759AAVXv5H
or try just the external ip address instead of current one (I never just tried that my Im sure it werks)
Mind once you insert the external IP you cannot then try this from the inside of network.
theres no such setting/option on the helpdesk.txt on my side of thingsVNC server: [what should i put here]??
Forget this bit for now get it werking without encryption first.Use DSMplugin: currently i have MSRC4plugin.dsm
I have no need to use this feature but like I said get it werking first as described and then we can move on to next stage.proxy/repeater: [should this be checked? or what should i put here

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
I subscribed to dyndns.org, set up my Linksys WRT54GS router to use my host name, but i am still unable to connect to the laptop, i've modified the supportdesk.txt file to this.
[HOST]
Agent Support - No Encryption
-connect MYHOSTNAME.dyndns.org:5500 -noregistry
and on my winxp pro. machine i run the vncviewer (listen mode) that it set to automatically use port:5500 when i go to: start>all progras>ultravnc>Ultra vncviewer>run ultra vncviewer (listen mode) but the connection does not happen between home pc and laptop (either across networks or same local network) am i doing something wrong here? do i need to entered something inside the vncviewer? please advise.

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
I suppose you forwarded ports on router as well?
Ports on the router must be forwarded do that a connection can reach the IP of the Viewer.
You coud just also try Redge suggestion as either a permanent solution or to see if your doing something wrong since thats a ready solution that does not require aany config from your side.

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
yes i've done portforwarding to the local PC 5900-5901 and 5500 as BOTH tcp/udp, txt file on SC ultravnc looks like this,
[HOST]
Support Agent
-connect MYHOST.dyndns.org:5500 -noregistry
[HOST]
Support Agent
-plugin -connect MYHOST.dyndns.org:5500 -noregistry
as you can see the 2nd [host] is set to use the rc4.key on plugin, is this correct? (MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm in viewer) and the other one doesnt.

Re: Some assistance using SC w/ plugin & ID
yes the other line is correct.
All you need here is to ensure that the rc4.key is same on custom.zip file and also that your MSRC4Plugin.dsm is same version also in both sides custom.zip and viewer directory.
You can use the current MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm rename it to MSRC4Plugin.dsm and place a copy on the custom.zip while also leaving a same name copy on the viewer directory.
then whenit all looks ok send it to compile here
http://sc.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload2.pl
user=foo
pass=foobar
If you want to use the encrypted connection over the internet you must set the viewer on listen encrypted by using this.
Shortcut_to_set_viewer_on_encrypted_listen
or command line to create your own shortcut or manually set (copy and paste as it shows)
"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -dsmplugin msrc4plugin.dsm -listen 5500
on a side note I make my helpdesk file look like this
[HOST]
Support Agent
-connect MYHOST.dyndns.org:5500 -noregistry
[HOST]
Support Agent (Encrypted Connection)
-plugin -connect MYHOST.dyndns.org:5500 -noregistry
