Way to reduce remote screen/resolution size to fit on screen

Post by InGearX »

The remote machine I VNC into has 1024x768 resolution;

Laptop I use to VNC has 1280x800;

So when I VNC the effect that takes place is that the remote machines screen can't fit on my screen (just by about 15 pixels)
To fix this I need to:

Step 1) _move_ (by dragging) the VNC viewer to the very top of my screen (so that even the title can't be seen)

Step 2) _resize_ the VNC viewer by dragging it to the max stretch to the bottom. Then the scroll bars disappear and everything is fine.

And since I use Ultr@VNC I need to disable the top buttons as step 0;

Is there a way to avoid doing this every time? Is there a way to automate this one way or another? Via options or batch file or VB Script or more advanced options or simple trickery? Via my end (laptop) or remote end (server)?

i.e. If I did not have my Taskbar (i.e. auto-hide) then it would be fine, but I do not want to do that; Or on remote size, maybe I could place some fake toolbar _below_ the Taskbar, this way I would not care and have no real need to resize (other then that the VNC window would be with scroll bars and vertical scroll bar (on the right) would be blocking 10 pixels on the right of the screen : (

I really thank you for any help I can get : )

* One thing that would solve it all and is actually what I want is to use WinXP Remote Desktop, BUT biggest problem is that after you access the machine using Remote Desktop, no other client (any VNC, Remote Administrator, PC Anywhere) can use it until reboot or physical logon (has something to do with the way it takes control of video drivers)
And I need to be able to use VNC when I'm accessing from work, PocketPC, webcafe...
If anyone knows of a Remote Desktop work around, I would be grateful...

not sure if this helps, but does hidding the vnc toolbar at the top make it fit? if so, like me, you can just make a shortcut with the /notoolbar command.
using latest code.... always... except when im not.
