screen artifacts

Post by cdavis82 »

Seem to be getting a lot of artifacts from closed windows/programs remaining on the screen. I assume this is some sort of refresh delay, but I can't find anything to adjust. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Casey

hey just exactly what i was going to ask as well.

the only way i found to get an update in those "artifacted areas" is to pass the mouse over it.

but the problem is, it's all over the place, and it'll help if we can get a Full Screen Refresh.

previously i was a RealVNC user, i just recently switched to UltraVNC,

RealVNC seems to be more robust in this area with the Dual monitor setup, and no screen artifact, but is weak in other areas.

and the stuff where UltraVNC are strong for, it's weak on the video.... which is kinda a big factor.

So any one have any tricks to make, or configure UltraVNC to produce better video refresh?

i've the mirrors drivers installed and working properly.

using UltraVNC stable v1.02 for both client and server in WinXP boxes

no, and i don't like the windows Terminal service, it sucks!, it doesn't do what i need it to do.

I am having the same problem. This seems to only happen on my Windows 2003 Servers though. I don't have any other versions to try it on, but this is all I use VNC for currently. Is it something to do with the "classic" windows format? There must be some reason and a possible fix for it.

uninstall ultravnc
reboot
edit: delete folder ultravnc
install ultravnc full version (not the upgrade)

I've posted before about screen artifacts just moving windows around on Win2003 server. If you disable the mirror driver, the artifacts don't happen. Since it's in the mirror driver, I can't debug it... that's up to you guys.

Good to know that I'm not the only one seeing issues on 2003.

Yeah, I haven't had the mirror driver until recently because I'm running the x64 edition of Windows Server 2003. So once I saw there was a driver, I decided to give it a shot. It works great otherwise. I want to use the mirror driver so that I'm not using Server CPU cycles, but it gets annoying with all the artifacts.
