>A couple other questions, what does "SC does not support web connections" mean from Rudi's post?

Am new to UltraVNC, but when the normal vnc server is installed you can connect to it using a web browser. In the SC version, all this is stripped out to save space. I dont think its a feature you want, since the SC is initiating just reverse connections.

1. SC is not DD or NS. The both are usefull for other cases.
We use SC with a specific encryption key for each Customer.
A customer can not connect until you have started the correct viewer (key). Billing is integrated, connection time for each viewer is auto timed and billed.

2. SC is never installed, so no need to uninstall. Temp files are deleted on disconnect. Customers run it directly from a SSL web server.

3. New SC version has a 1 min connection time. Server need to find the viewer within 1 minute, if no connection is made after this period, SC is removed.

A couple of feature requests:

1. A "Connect" button on the listing screen, in case the end-user doesnt know how to double click.

2. If there is only one server in the listing it just uses it and connects immediately skipping the dialog.

3. In the Chat Window, instead of showing the machine name or IP address of the viewer, show <Support Rep>.

Obviously you'll need to get a standard download of UltraVNC
http://ftp.erm.tu-cottbus.de/ultravnc/

Perhaps TEST19_12, http://ftp.erm.tu-cottbus.de/ultravnc/T ... c19_12.zip
You will install this, and run the

1. Start in the vncviewer in listening mode:

vncviewer /listen

2. Now got get the customization file, custom.zip
http://ftp.erm.tu-cottbus.de/ultravnc/SingleClickUltra/

3. Edit the files in here using your host, icons, etc.
4. Zip this all back into a .zip file when done.
5. After you customize, goto http://gotovnc.dynalias.com/ to upload the file to create you distribution. Rudi De Vos's server is online when he's logged on in the forum.

6. Once created, have your end-user download this file and run. He will select your host and connect.

That would be great but....

Why not put the SC files on the regular FTP site?

Post by new2vnc »

I have tried over several days now, and have never found the website to be available.

Is there some reason these files can't be put on the regular FTP site?

Single click is online generated, based on the customization
zip you upload.

The winvnc.exe (SC) without customization doesn't do anything, then showing a trayicon.

repeater added
-id code (command line options)

Try to keep the server on for 24 hours

SC does not allow it, no extra options will be added, it has to be simple.

The normal version allow to enter hostname for an outgoing connection. More experient enduser always can use this version.

Post by garry »

The new single click UltraVNC is a great addition. Thank you and congratulations to all involved. Can anyone help with information on how to customise the helpdesk.txt document?

I can't seem to get the More Info button or the website link to work.

The problem is that the generator only works on win32
with apache. I generates win32 exe and not linux bin.

+I'm trying to make a linux generator
or
+A colocated dedicated win32 server, cheapest found for about
99EURO a month (100GB/month on a 2Mb link)

Running it with a dynalias on my home PC is not possible,
my own internet block during uploads, don't want to have my PC continues on the net.

Rudy,

I just want to say that this is one slick adaptation of VNC. This is going to make my life a whole lot easier being the "support department" for all my friends and family. Thanks for all your efforts.

I got to your link finally but have some problems.

Post by pcwerx »

If I understand this correclty, this is creating a reverse connection. I run the server on the machine that I want to do support from and then the client downloads this file that was created after uploading to rudi's server. I think I may be doing something wrong... first the file I get from rudi's server is only 165k. I upload the icon1, icon2, helpdesk.txt, logo and rc4.key (another question), should I be uploading more files. Then I guess his server makes the exe. Fine... I then downloaded the file that is created and launch it on a computer I want to control. It then pops up and I double click on the connection. Then I am sitting at the computer I want to use to control the remote computer and fix. There is a pop up asking me if I want to accept the connection. After I accept the connection, I get a flash on the screen of both computers then everything disconects... what the heck am I doing wrong...????? Also, this rc4.key file. How do I create my own and what should it look like?? Any help in making this work would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
Mike

I think that if you run the viewer in listen mode on the machine that you are running the server on it will probably fix that problem..

connect and immediatelly disconnect

Post by Noli »

I downloaded winvnc_CLCK.exe, and it works fantastic in almost all instances. In some XP SP2 (remote) I had a problem: I see the remote PC in my desktop for about 1 or 2 seconds, and the it closes up.

I am using UltraVNC v.18

If the remote user download UltraVNC server v.11 I can logon to the remote PC with no problems.

Anyone can advise with a clue about what it is going on?

rc4

Post by chabomb0 »

I cant seem to get the rc4 to work, not sure what i am doing wrong. I am working fine with out it but as soon as I add it I get an error message about a file that I did not create but appears when trying to connect using the encrpytion link. The error says rc4-tmp.d1 is not a valid image file. It appears to be created when the client clicks on the encryption option that I had him download.

Help?

problem with -id ID:1234 (before connect)

Post by Guest »

I have tryed -id ID:1234 before -connect.
I am not able to connect.

When i mistype something, the argument line is printed in lower case. Can this be the reason?
Using lowercase id:1234 does not work on the normal server / viewer. Actually it produceses the same repeater log result as the oneclick.

Hi, I'm trying to use this SC tool, but I'm not quite getting it.

I have no problem setting up the customized .exe and dl'g it from Rudi's server, but I can't get a remote session setup running it. This is what I'm doing. Can someone shed some light on what I am doing wrong?

ASSUMPTIONS/KEY:
working with rc19
target pc ip: 192.168.1.110
master pc ip: 192.168.1.101
no personal firewalls enabled

target pc - the pc I want to control/fix remotely
custom.exe - the customized one click .exe client generated from Rudi's server
master pc - the pc I want to use to control the target pc

1. master pc: I run the vnc server where "main" is listening on port 5900 ("auto" setting)
2. target pc: I run the custom.exe and double click the "internet support" option (assuming I am not using a secured connection)
3. target pc: I get a bubble tip telling me that the target pc is now remote visable and the connection is active
4. master pc: while the vnc server is running, there is no prompt indicating that there is a pc waiting to be remote controlled

sooo, then I tried doing this:

1. master pc: I run "C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" /listen in the RUN dialog box
2. master pc: vnc launches and is now in the tray
3. target pc: I run the custom.exe - no connection... it eventually times out.

MY QUESTIONS:
1. what is the proper way to get this setup working??
2. how can I setup vnc on both client and server portions to use completely different ports for security (I noticed the server side allows me to listen on any port I want instead of the default 5800-5900)?
3. in the helpdesk.txt file on the line:
"-connect 192.168.1.101:5500 -noregistry"
what does the 5500 refer to?? the port to use?
--> cuz when my personal firewall was up (zonealarm) it noted that custom.exe was attempting to connect to 192.168.1.101:5900 (using port 5900).
4. is there more documentation available than what's on the "help" section of the website?

Thank you for anyone who can provide some much needed insight on all this!
