SC newbee
Re: SC newbee
definitely try a webserver listening on port 5500 on Viewer PC,
if its pages are available for browser on SC PC.....
e.g. http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/

Re: SC newbee
I will test Web server on ViewerPC (Vista) when I get up after 8 hours.
Thanks so far.
I have a feeling that the web server will not run on Vista, though.

Re: SC newbee
Installed Abyss
From Sc PC private address of Viewer PC http://
showed the initial page
Http://publivcIP
I tried to log in but I used the pass when I input at the installation of the server but cannot login.

Re: SC newbee
Be more specific.
You do not need to login to web pages on default port 80, or switched to 5500 for test purpose.
You need only login locally to server console,
default port 9999, where you can set http server listening port.
that need not be accessible from remote.

Re: SC newbee
But how it is possible for SC PC behind one router
to get wep page from private IP of Viewer PC behind another router ??
Unless they are on the same LAN behind the same router ?

Re: SC newbee
this test environment resides in the same LAN.
Re: SC newbee
so, you can a/o need to test both dicrect connection to viewer,
and remotelike connection through external public router Address
and remotelike connection through external public router Address
Re: SC newbee
Does this prove that 5500 port is forwarded ?pjo wrote:At the SC PC, http://publicip
pops up login dialogue.
http://privateIP
this shows the web page
If so, what will be the cause for Viewer cannot see SC ?
Re: SC newbee
To be sure, some summary :
at private IP of viewer PC is running http server ( not its console ) at 5500
viewing http://ViewerPCprivateIP:5500 shows its http page
viewing http://RouterPCExternaIP:5500 shows login page ,
even if said to be forwarding it.
how that login page looks like. does it look like login page of server console,
or some other.... Is there any autentification request for accessing LAN through router ?

It was a prompt to input UserID and password for the router, not to the web server.
Re: SC newbee
And I can login to the router page.
After that how can I get access to the Viewer PC web server using Public IP ?

Re: SC newbee
if it is not an autentication e.g. for access to domain, but access to router itself, it looks like port 5500 forwarding does not work.
but what kind of router page it is ?
btw if successful viewing viewer pc web page through router,
it would still obviously show router address, not viewer one.
what kind of credential do you use to login to that router login page ?
Edit: Hm, could it be, that you are forwarded, but asked for windows logon, accessing viewer pc remotely ?
what if including credentials, used to login to that page,
in commandline parameters of SC ?

Re: SC newbee
As I wrote in the previous post, the login dialogue is for the router 100%, not to Vista on Viewer PC.poutnik wrote:if it is not an autentication e.g. for access to domain, but access to router itself, it looks like port 5500 forwarding does not work.

The page which is logged in is to manage the router setting.

I do not understand this.
Comanndline of SC ? Never used it.

Re: SC newbee
I just asked one of my friends to try http://
and the web page was not accessible.
So I have to set the router to open port 80.
But we are testing 5500 ?
So I do not think that port 80 must be opened.

Re: SC newbee
What is the best way to check if port 5500 is forwarded or not without using SC ?
Re: SC newbee
your friend needs to use http://address:5500
othervise browser obviously use default http port 80
We do not need to test http, but port 5500, whatever there is listening....
And check SW Firewall on viewer PC, if any,
to be either off or allowing incoming TCP connection for webserver

Re: SC newbee
I did not explicitly set the web server for port 5500.
Do I need to do that ?
And How ?

Re: SC newbee
Kaspersky Internet Security 7 and Vista Firewall are disabled.
I will call the tech support of the router again tomorrow to triple check if the TCP 5500 is port-forwarded.

Re: SC newbee
I called the tech support and by looking at the security log of the router the port 5500 and 5900 are portforwarded 100 %, they said.
They also said that it is the application problem either the web server or UltraVNC viewer/server.
I checked the setting of the UVNC server and it was auto and this didnot work.
I set it to manual 5900 neither this one worked.
What is N in the setting ?
Any other setting that has to be checked ?

Re: SC newbee
but server setting are not relevant for us now.
We trying to connect to http server/ or UVNC Viewer at port 5500,
not to UVNV Server at default, or manult set port 5900.
if you are unable to connect to both independent apps ( obviously onle one can listen on that port ), the problem would not probably be in apps, especially if local connection works...

Re: SC newbee
What would be the next step to find out the reason why SC and viewer do not work ?
Re: SC newbee
So far let me summarize the test results.
Vista UVC Viewer
XP UVC Sever
in the same LAN
UVC Viewer connect to Server using private ip:5900 This works OK.
UVC Viewer connect to Server using public ip:5900
This does not work.
SC on XP
Viewer listenung on Vista
no connection.
5500, 5800, 5900 ports are port forwarded for Vista and XP PC.
Pls advise what to check.

Re: SC newbee
to clarify:
Does it mean 5500 is forwarded to viewer / vista,
nad 5800,5900 to XP / winvnc server ?
and SC / XP does not connect to viewer / vista even by local connection ?
do you have both items in SC menu for remote and for local conection to Viewer ?

Re: SC newbee
Port 5500, 5800, 5900 for Vista is opend, meaning Internet to Vista port 5500, 5800, 5900 is opened.poutnik wrote:to clarify:

SC XP does not automatically connect to Viewer Listen Vista.
But when Viewer try to connect SC explicitly then it works. Viewer is not opening the viewer window automatically.
I donot know about SC Menu because there is none.
Just the standard GUI window to start to connect.
Re: SC newbee
Port 5500, 5800, 5900 for XP are also opened, incoming TCP packet from Internet will be routed to XP.
Re: SC newbee
But afaik SC is not listening, only manually initiated outgoing connection is allowed.
If you install 7zip, you can easily open SC executable and see, what connection parameters are written in embedded helpdesk.txt file.
by menu I mean 1o more text line yoy are about to doubleclick to connect.

I do not fully understand this.
Are you referring to helpdesk.txt ?
There is no menu in the GUI just to click "Internet supprt".
