SC and two computer behind NAT

Post by vitesse »

I want to use SC to be able to help other setup a software on their computer.
It work well inside my lan, but doesn't work when someone from the internet (behind a NAT) want to comunicated with me (behind a NAT).

Doesn't really found how to setup for a NAT to NAT connection. I don't want the person that I want to help doing anything on their router.

I use this setting for my connection( inside helpdesk):
Internet support
-connect 200.44.45.148:5500 -noregistry

and routed the 5500 port to my computer where I run uvnc viewer

At Viewer End:
You must have port forward to your pc, (and it had been done), so try this test to make sure your viewer can hear signal from internet.
1. Run the viewer in listening mode (at 5500)
2. Open the I.E., and vist this page: https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=5500

If you setup is OK, the VNCviewer will popup a meseage of: "Coonection failed - Error reading Protocol Version"
The IE will return a page showing the status of 5500 be "OPEN!"

At Server (SC) end:
No config. at client's router is required.
Check if:
Is there any proxy setup in the client's network., and
Does the client's firewall block the SC traffic.

if applicable, check your hardware and software firewall is open for port 5500 from WAN to LAN and LAN to WAN

thanks, the problem was from comodo firewall pro 3.0 . when you close it it continue to be active . Seem not possible to desactivate it. so now that he is configured all is ok.

So sc will work if me and the person is behind a nat? the other person doesn't need to route the port on his router?

this is a prety good news :)

That's right! No port routing/forwarding is required to be configured at client's router.

The only situation that you may need to touch his router is: if the router has a buildin firewall that block the SC (5500) outbound connection. Most router will not do so with the out of box setting.
It work well inside my lan
Why did the problem not happen when testing in the lan?
