SC Blue Screens Me

Post by jludt »

My first attempt with Single Click was brilliant. I connected to my mom's computer and did a bunch of stuff for her. However she and I have the same ISP and when I tried to connect to my father's computer who is 2,000 some miles away I crashed to a blue screen on two separate occasions after connecting and moving the mouse around for about 30 seconds or so. The blue screen error was the same both times.

"Driver_IRQ_Less_than_or_Equal"

I'm using an .exe created by the "UltraVncSC based on RC23" creator tool and running the Viewer in listen mode on port 5500 on my machine.

The only other piece of info I was able to find on my own was here

http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000338.html

Just do a search for "blue screen" and you will come to a comment by a fellow named Ryan Mcginty and he mentions something about getting a similar blue screen when using the video hook.

Someone please advise on what to troubleshoot and try next [/url]

Hi jludt

Try out this thread, no drivers are installed and it may just be what you need.

See how things go and let us know.

Interesting Radeon. I did forget to mention... both machines are XP SP2 and the client machine (my dad's) is running McAfee Virus scan enterprise 8.5.0i

that thread seems to be focused on Vista mainly. So i'm not sure what could be relevant other than the perhaps McAfee not liking the sc.exe? Still unclear about what I should try or do differently before I try to connect again. I do appreciate your reply though...just hope you can clarify what it is from your thread that might help me

The SC we created with caramel does focus on Vista but my main reason for saying was that ours does not run any drivers. I have always had problems with drivers and I prefer to avoid them if I can.

I was just suggesting your give ours a try and see how things go.

Well I tried using your SC and it still locked me up. this time however I seemed to have about 10 mins in between each crash and the client end would remain OK. I'm now leaning towards an issue with my own my machine. Should I try to update or try different drivers? i'm at work so I'm not sure what drivers I have at home, I know its a GeForce 4 Ti 4400 though.

For the short duration I was able to connect to my dad's machine I did notice tons of spyware and malware. "Privacy Protector" "Win AntiVirus" and a few others. Could this be causing the lockups?

I would honestly say that there isn’t much point in troubleshooting possible hardware issues until all of that spyware is sorted out. Let us know how you get on.

so you think that spyware on his machine could be causing it? :|

That seems rather futile to me because that is the whole premise on me wanting to connect to alot of people's machines. I did try running it in Safe Mode and that is actually where i had the better results. better results being 10 mins or so before my computer locked up with a blue screen. in 3 or 4 different 10 min sessions i was able to get a good sum of the crap off but I know there is still some things lingering around.

I will go back and update all his virus protection (McAfee, Spybot, Adaware) and then see if the crashing persists. I will even try it on my laptop and see if that it is crashing that as well. I will keep you posted thanks again for your responses. I appreciate it greatly.

Well I used my laptop (which is rarley used) and I had no problems. This leads me to believe that it was definitely something on my end with my machine. I'm going to rescan it for viruses/malware and then try and see what I can find with compatibility issues pertaining to my graphics card.
