Multiple Viewers, 1 Server File?

Post by GBurgess »

Hi all,

I am new to PCHelpWare, and as such, my familiarity with the terminology is a bit off. As an example, it took me a long time to get anywhere finding information on configuring the "client," as I did not know to use the term "viewer" in my searches. :P

My question is best explained with a quick scenario. Up till now, I have been using PCHelpWare with only 1 computer set to be a viewer and I have been doing so with great success. Now, we have a second person with their own computer to help with troubleshooting. I am trying to configure the server file so that it can connect to 2 different computers, each with a static IP. To muddy the waters a bit more, some of our users are out on job sites with laptops, so they are not connected to our domain or DHCP. The two "viewer" computers are both on the domain, with IPs from our DHCP.

Is it possible to have the server file able to connect to the IP address specified (the DHCP server), but to try for two different ports that are being forwarded? The end result I want here is such that our users would be able to just use a single server file to connect, with whichever viewer is currently active receiving the connection. I do not really want to have a server file for viewer A, and a second server file for viewer B.

I had a look through the documentation and these forums, but I could not find the answer. It may simply be that diction issue that I mentioned above. Even a link to the right place would be greatly appreciated.

(I have never had so much trouble relaying a help request. I must be more tired than I thought)
