newbie problems, unable to get sc working in lan

Post by imti »

hello forum member.

I am new to ultra vnc and could use a little help.

i am currently trying to get sc vnc working in a lan environment without much success. The ultimate goal is going to be to create the custom app, host it on website for customer to download wait for them to do so and then offer support.

However i thought it would probably be a good idea to try and test within the lan but i'm not having much success.

Hoping some of you smart guys and gals can help me out.

I've downloaded the custom zip, extracted it and changed the following setting in the helpdesk.txt

[HOST]
LAN CONNECTION
-connect "local ip address":5900 -noregistry

I then create the app using the online tool.

I run vnc viewer(listening mode) having change default port to 5900 (i did this because i know the port is open, use real vnc on the same port, which i have diabled temporaraly.)

I havent downloaded the ultra vnc server

I run the app on a secondary test machine in same lan environment.

However i get nothing, nada...

The app runs for 5 mins and then turns itself off.

The machine with the viewer also does nothing,

Any ideas?

I've tried creating the app a number of times incase it became corrupt with the same result each time.

Any help would be appreciated

5500 is only for outgoing connection <-- SC use this default port.
5900 is only for incoming connection <-- SC don't use this port.

viewer must have the port TCP 5500 forwarded NAT/firewall to their computer of vncviewer listening.

vncviewer on other computer must ready listening, waiting
Start... Run... "%programfiles%\Ultravnc\vncviewer.exe" -listen

Hi Redge

and thanks for your reply.

"viewer must have the port TCP 5500 forwarded NAT/firewall to their computer of vncviewer listening".

Just a quick question regarding the above statement i dont have access to the nat/firewall but i believe i can use the repeater to achieve the same objective, would i be correct in assuming this? and if so can i run both the repeater and the viewer form the same machine?

Many thanks for your help.

you must open port for repeater for allow viewer and remote interconnected by repeater.

if you can not open port, is better to use vnc related over Internet for bypass firewall product are free if not business usage.

your part.
