PcHelpware-r10:Setting Up a Repeater behind a firewall

Post by robertomason »

I've downloaded PcHelpWare_rel10.zip, and extracted it.
1. I've run the PcHelpWare_viewer.exe
a. Selected Via Repeater
b. set my alias
c. Set my password
d. Set my id: to 1
e. Host Repeater set to rmasonfamily.info (domain on the outside world)
i. Iistening Port Viewer 5901
ii. Listening Port Server 5500
f. automap is checked
g. saved my settings
h. Did my create Server.
i. Renamed myserver executable to support.exe

2. My Repeater is set as follows
a. Iistening Port Viewer 5901
b. Listening Port Server 5500
c. Only enabled Mode II
d. Restrict Access to Server port set to 0
e. Enabble dynamic ip service is set to 0

3. Repeater is running on 192.168.1.22
Firewall on PC is off

Set port forwarding
inbound 5500 to 192.168.1.22 outbound 5500
inbound 5900 tp 192.168.1.22 outbound 5900
inbound 5901 tp 192.168.1.22 outbound 5901

4. I run PcHelpWare_server.exe with repeater address 192.168.1.22. I can connect internally on my network, but not from the internet

I'm obviously doing something wrong. If anyone can help, thanks

Does the repeater have access to the internet?? Did you port forward the repeater correctly??

Your right. After I posted I downloaded nmap (from my office remotely, and scanned my ports, and saw i didn't have 5500 or 5900 opened at all. My router was configured properly, but wasn't forwarding. I've had that problem with this router.

I've fixed the problem, Question I have. Port 5500 is being forwarded, along with 5900:5909. Do I need to forward 5900:5909?

Thanks :)

Do I need to forward 5900:5909?
No

but forward only TCP 5500 and TCP 5901
in this case 5900 is not necessary except if you have a vnc server on the computer where hosted repeater
