Re: OneClick - SC w/Safe Mode Reboot & Reconnect w/Vista

I was thinking (aside from my last post with problems), could the "Tools" drop-down be added to the right-click menu on the title of the timer? That would also make it possible to right-click the timer program on the taskbar to access it. I'm physically disabled and find that I sometimes click the bell button when trying to click the "Tools" drop-down which could be annoying to the customer. :) Maybe add a (optional) confirmation to the bell when clicked?

It already is... right clicking anywhere on the timer or clicking the triangle does the same thing...

I did. I rebuilt it a few times to make sure. Like I said, it works on an XP machine but not the Vista machine which is odd. I'll send you the module, though it has a LAN IP address in it.

I can't duplicate the problem on any of the 3 Vista laptops I have with me or the 4 Vista desktops in here in the office. It will be after the first of the year before I can continue working on it. No need to add features to broken code.

Hi Phil,

It’s the same problem with version OneClick v1.8.7.1 Build 10 December 2007.

The Areo doesn’t restore in non-service mode with menu. Doesn’t matter if I am pressing the cancel button or the customer disconnects.
Something must have been changes since version 1.8.6.6

Hi Phil,

I am also having connection issues with 1.8.7.1 while testing it on my local network from a Vista machine.

Your efforts to add little extras, like the clock and toolbar are nice but…….

I, for one, am more interested in being able to switch between users, reboot amd reconnect to multi user machines, and get into safe mode with Vista like we can when working an XP machine. I guess that means, running as a service in Vista.

Do you think that will ever be possible?

The only thing that changed is the computer it was compiled on. Instead of an Intel Pentium M, it was compiled on an AMD 64 Athalon X2 but that really shouldn't matter.

Later today I'll try re-compiling it on the old one and re-upload it to see if it changes anything.

It's already is possible in an alpha version using a port of VNC for OS/2 (my original AutoVNC) but it won't uninstall without rebooting and it won't file transfer or chat yet and requires timer version 1 (which is too big). So yes, it will be possible but just not soon and probably not using UltraVNC SC as it's been abandoned. It's just a funding issue since I'm the only one working on it and OneClick doesn't bring in enough revenue to even pay for it's bandwidth.

So oneclick can not reboot a remote Vista machine and reconnect? If not, will this change with version 2.0? People that I help don't always want to stay in front of their computer while I am working on it.... and more and more of them have Vista on their machines.

It will reconnect in Vista but only after user login since it's not running as a service. I hope to have that fixed by 2.0 if I can get the winvnc.exe modified in time.

I finally found a Vista machine it would have problems on using a Service mode module. Should have it fixed shortly now that I can duplicate it.

Going to fix the wallpaper restore as well.

Hi Phil,

The new version 1.8.7.2 does not create any oneclick.exe file when i have done the guide in non-service mode with menu. It only compiles the reapeterviewer.exe and if it already exists it says that it can't be created because the file is locked (this can be fix if I just go into the Customer Modules folder and delete the file).

What have happen to the non-service module in Oneclick? I think the changes in service mode have changed the non-service mode module of Oneclick.

--------------------------------------

I have tested to create the file in service mode. It's the same problem it does not create the Oneclick.exe file.

Re-compiled and re-uploaded, try 1.8.7.2R, it must have been a bad compile, works fine here.

Now that it's all fixed...

Version 1.8.7.3
---------------

- You no longer have to be logged onto the remote desktop to uninstall
the software. If you reject an incoming session the software will now
be uninstalled even if running in service mode sitting at the Windows
logon prompt.

It's a free download at:

Could this be made into an option? There are times I click "No" when the remote computer is shutting down for a reboot.

uninstall problem with OneCLick 1.8.7.4 on XP Pro

Post by rocketman108 »

I'm currently running OneClick 1.8.7.4. I am testing out the software on my local machines. My host computer is a laptop with XP Pro SP2, and I am connecting to another client computer on my network also running XP Pro SP2.

Here are my issues:
-connects fine and timer is visible however the boot and stop icons are not present

-after reboot I must type my password to log back into the client machine before OneClick tries to reconnect. I thought Oneclick aeto-reconnects before logon screen. Once windows loads, the session reconnects however there is no timer and still no boot or stop icons.

-how can I uninstall the Oneclick software on the client machine because everytime I restart it tries to reconnect to the host??? My quick fix was to stop the listener in viewer mode on the host machine so the client machine tries to onnect but stops after a period of time.

Version 1.8.7.4 fixed the missing timer issue (in service mode), it was released about an hour ago. Check your customer module to ensure it is updated.

Most of the following is covered in the users manual and readme...

The boot and stop icons are not installed on the desktop if the timer is present but they are still installed in the start menu (all programs).

It can only reconnect before the login prompt if running as a service.

Closing the timer uninstalls the software.

Clicking the X on the timer tool bar uninstalls the software.

Rejecting/refusing the connection at the viewer (clicking no) when a connection request comes in uninstalls the software.

Clicking the Stop icon in the start menu all programs uninstalls the software.

Running the Uninst.exe file in the oneClick folder uninstalls the software.

There are so many ways to kill OneCLick, it's a wonder it runs at all.

I'll add failure to contact a compatible viewer and some more ways to uninstall the software in later versions...

Thank you for the prompt response. I will try your suggestions, and let you know how I make out. OneClick appears to be an excellent piece of software. Keep up the good work.

OneClick version 1.8.7.8 is now available for download from:

http://www.advantig.com/oneclick

---------
Changes
---------

Version 1.8.7.8
---------------

- Improved wallpaper restore at the end of the session,
it should never fail to restore the wallpaper now.

- Improved auto-uninstall if ran on top of existing session,
it removes the existing session before connecting.
It's a double uninstall, it runs Uninst.exe then deletes
the files individually, then checks they are gone.

- The 1cTools folder is now removed from the desktop if the timer is used.

Version 1.8.7.7
---------------

- Improved fallback to application mode if not able to run as a service.

Version 1.8.7.6
---------------

- Refusing the connection from the viewer no longer asks to reboot if
the reboot option was selected.

Version 1.8.7.5
---------------

- Reconnects in service mode module running in application mode are now persistent after reboot.

1.8.7.8. Mmm ... on closing a session the wallpaper is restored, but then I encounter a "rePaper" copyright notice. I left it on screen, and it removed the wallpaper again after a few seconds. After dismissing it, the WSH error "Can not find script file ..." returns. This is backward progress.

Seems to work great!

What files are needed for the timer? I'd like to place the timer program in my Tools folder so that it doesn't automatically run but is available. Is that possible? Also, some sort of pause/resume on the timer would still be helpful or the ability to close/relaunch the timer without ending the session.

Edit: Nevermind, I've downloaded a small timer that should work fine.
