LogMeIn vs PCHelpware vs UltraVNC vs EchoVNC ??

Hello Everyone,
I want remote access to my XP PC - it's not a server.
I am happy to leave it running for a week or so, and, of course, it will go to sleep, so I'll need to be able to wake it up - remotely.
What I want, I think, is for it to run a server, preferable as a service, that I can access from any browser, even my work (if possible) that's already blocked "LogMeIn". Would a repeater, either using PCHelpware's at dynalias, or running my own do the trick? Would that not eliminate the need for port forwarding thru my modem & router? What is the recommended flavour of VNC? I've done SC, PCHelpware & UltraVNC some time ago, and am coming back after a while. I have scratched around the forums but my heat spins! Any general recommendations greatefully and graciously accepted.

Me again ...!
I felt a little guilty asking the above question, so worked a little harder on UltraVNC. I've got my dynalias to work now, port forwarding too thru my firewall, and I also uploaded the vncviewer.exe to my website, so I can use that rather than a browser "http://myname.dynalias.net:5800" with its reduced options, like "chat".
I won't know for a few days whether this setup will work behind my work's firewall, as it's Saturday morning. I'll probably do a DSM plugin too, and maybe fiddle with a repeater too - but only if it doesn't work from outside the home! Thanks for reading the post anyway.
