Vista 1.03 RC6, new 'puter, new router

Post by kenkorshin »

I have been using Ultra VNC for sometime on my XP computers with no problem. I have a new computer with Vista installed. Downloaded ver 103.

I also have a new Router, Linksys WRT54G. I have opened ports 5500,5900,5800 and am still unable to connect to this desktop from my laptop.

Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, UVNC is in the defaoult folder. do I have to use the same version of the viewer as the server?

I show the 5800, 5900 ports as listening.

well it shouldnt really have to be but always a good choice to use the same version on both sides if possible.

The newest RC seems to work fine for me on vista.. :|

After weeks and weeks trying to get Ultravnc to with my Vista machine as host I finally got i running. How? simple I changed the default port to something other than 5900. Found the answer on realvnc. Why isn't this information available here and why does it do this?

That really does not make sense. I have UVNC RC6 installed on a vista machine and using default ports with no issues. I can not see that being the cause of the problem.. Maybe windows firewall was not configured properly for uvnc to work or something else was interfering with it :|

My is on a vista home premium but there are at least 4 versions of vista so it will take time to get all the bugs out..:)
