Just found UltraVNC - marvellous bit of kit, however before I install I'd just like to check something.
I have a PC that I'm currently using the old VNC software to access. The keyboard and mouse on that server are broke (I think it's the motherboard), so I have to do everything remotely.
Although it's not a critical server, I considered installing the new VNC on it to take advantage of the new features, however, is it possible to install the new server, using the old one? Will they clash horribly, never to reboot, or will the new one simply overwrite the old one and work?

Probably crash and burn. I suggest install pcanywhere.. maybe theres a free 30 day trial.. and fix everything up using it. Its nice and slow though, so you wouldnt want to use it normally. Its good for backup though, or so ive heard.
You should uninstall the old vnc first, unless its an old version of uvnc, and then maybe still.

You can try this...
Copy all the new vnc files in a new directory
Start winvnc -multi from that directory
The new version of vnc is started as application on port 5901
Now you have the old and the new version running together.
You can vnc on port 5900(old) and port 5901(new)
If you find the new version stable
1) stop the old version (from the second vnc connection)
2) goto the directory of the old vnc version
3) winvnc -remove (remove old service)
4) goto new directory of vnc
5) winvnc -install (install new service)
The service is only activated after reboot, but can be installed
while "application vnc" is running
6) Reboot and hope all works OK
