tightvnc linux client + ultravnc on xp = blank/black screen

Some facts of my situation:
  • * The screen on Windows XP machine is on the logon screen.
    * My tight vnc client (xtightvncviewer) is running on Linux.
    * UltraVNC is running as a service on Windows XP.
    * TightVNC server running on Windows XP works fine.
    * The screen is blank when I connect to the UltraVNC server from my tightvnc linux client
    • * I am unable to logon
      * I don't see the splash display
      * I try sending CTL-ALT-DEL but still blank.
    * I would like to get this to work because I think UltraVNC will be my only option once I move to Vista.
Are there any solutions to this problem?

that has happened to me. I was able to reboot and that fixed it. But it would be nice to know why though.
