Well, that may be so, and I appreciate your feedback, but my Vista questions are directed at the Advantig staff, since they concern the Advantig-modified version of SC.

When running this application on the "customer" computer I get an error:

"exception processing message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c"

Cancel | Try Again | Continue

Clicking "Continue" 3 times finally prompts the viewer with "Accept Incoming SC connection" dialog box.

I tried the same exe on three different computers but the problem only occurred on one. Two ran Windows XP Professional and another Home Edition all three service pack 2. The problem occurred on one of the XP Professional machines. I can't figure out what the determining factor is. Anyone else run across this?

spm wrote:Concerning my post about Vista-related issues...

...I now note that the Advantig version of WinVNC.exe included with OneClick actually has static imports for both msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll, and both files need to be installed on the customer's system for the server to start.

This still leaves the issue that the OneClick module fails to disable UAC and cannot install WinVNC as a service, with the restrictions that implies.
UAC shold be disabled automatically. We will check the UAC issue and compile the next version to not need the mscvp71.dll. Thanks for the input and sorry we've been absent on the forum. It's been really busy here over the last couple of months.

I've added this to the bug list. Hopefully it will be resolved in the next release.

Try replacing the Winvnc.exe with the beta version at:

http://www.advantig.com/files/winvnc_c6.zip

Let me know if it helps.

OneClick version 1.8.5.3 C6 was a beta version, 1.8.5.4 was supposed to be the release version. The website has been updated with the correct version.

Version 1.8.5.4
------------------
- Improved wallpaper restore when the session ends.

It now seems to restore the wallpaper reliably on our Vista and XP machines when running as a service or as an application using our version of SC winvnc.exe (included in the setup program) but let me know if there are any problems with other systems or with the UVNC version of SC winvnc.exe.

- Recompiled SingleClick Winvnc.exe to support machines that do not have VC7 dll files installed or missing.

- Improved Vista UAC and Aero Graphics disable code.

- Optimized for better Vista performance.

I have evalute the Oneclick Version 1.8.5.4 to access on an Windows Vista Business Computer. The connection in a local LAN with 1000Mbit is under Windows Vista extremly Slow, when i click something i must wait about 20 seconds that i see something on the screen. Under Windows XP UltraVNC SC and Oneclick is fonctionally great.

In your previous post you have write that the speed on Vista has been optimized. It is necessary to change some option?

Testing under Vista Business, I experience the following with 1.8.5.4:

1. The dependency on VC7 redistributables is indeed removed. Thanks for that.

2. When I run OneClick under Vista Business, UAC is turned off for the session (and the balloon tip to that effect does pop up), but OneClick still fails to install itself as a service, and OneClick puts up an error message to that effect. The service is not running and logging off terminates the WinVNC session (but the session restarts when the - same - user logs back on).

3. The desktop wallpaper is not restored at the end of the session (but, as normal, it returns after log off/log on.

The optimization was compiler settings not program settings. The default program settings should be ok. Are you using the vncViewer.exe and winvnc.exe supplied with the OneClick package? It may be a video driver issue. We tested on Toshiba, HP, IBM, Gateway and Dell computers, not sure of the video cards installed at the moment. Let me know the configuration so I can try find or build a similar platform to duplicate it.

Thanks for the info. Service mode in Vista isn't enabled in 1.8.5.4 just yet. The service mode for Vista is still under development and has not been thoroughly tested so it is disabled in the release version.

Hi Phil,

Yes i have used the vncviewer that was included in the OneClick Package.

The Computer has the follow components installed:
ASUS P5B Mainboard, Intel Core 2 Duo 6400, Nvidia Geforce 6600 PCI-E, 1GB Kingston DDR-RAM.

I have also tried with the newest driver like Nvidia Driver version 158.24, but the problems still persist.

I have found the solution about the problems with UVNC and Vista.

Change the Windows Theme (Aero) to Windows Classic and the UVNC Remotetool 1.03 RC6 is fonctionally great!

Why does Oneclick reconnect.

Post by ChristianM »

When I disconnect the remote support session the customers PC reconnects again.
The strange thing is that I haven't choosen autoconnect or installed it as an service. SingleClick works great with the same helptesk.txt.

Any ideas!

And one more thing. Why didnt Oneclick disable the Aero Theme in Vista as it's supposed to?

I'm using version 1.854

Otherwise it's a great app.

I am using OneClick 1.8.5.4, and Aero doesn't get disabled in Vista. The wallpaper and UAC is disabled as expected, but not Aero. The computer to remotely control is a Dell Optiplex 740 (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20 GHz, ATI Radeon X1300) with Windows Vista Business.

Any ideas?

My workaround has been after connection is to click on start and enter control color in the search box and the appearance tab will come up and change the color scheme to windows default. It will be real slow while you do this. I just slowly click on my choices and the color scheme changes and you can then stayed connected.

Thanks for your advice. I've tried it a couple of times, but it is a real pain.

Anyone else experiencing Aero problems with 1.8.5.4? I am a bit confused as the changelog says it should work:
  • - Improved Vista UAC and Aero Graphics disable code.

The former version disabled Aero but it does not work in this version. Will have to wait and see. Still a very good product for the price.

That would be great to have, when you can. In many cases we ask our customers to download our build of OneClick from our web site, and this doesn't help with the versioning problem we have.

WebStart, or a version thereof, has the potential to solve the problem, but having them download WebStart.exe in its current state only leads to more problems. WebStart.exe is only helpful to our customers if it is run with a URL parameter, and this is where things fail, as there is no way most of our customers will be able to do this hassle-free, even with written instructions from us via e-mail, say. Sending them a shortcut doesn't cut (sic) it either, as then they would need to download WebStart.exe to a specific folder for the shortcut to work. This is why I really want to have a single download that our customers can simply download and run. We sign all our offered downloads to assist in ensuring our customers only get genuine copies.

Do you have any ball-park estimate as to when your update will be available? If it isn't going to be soon, I'll go and write my own ;-)
I need the same thing. Single download that always downloads the latest version from the net.
Any news?

Has anyone heard from Advantig since their last post here? I paid for a OneClick registration a couple days ago via Paypal and have yet to receive my code. E-mails go unanswered and both of their sales numbers just ring & ring.

Anybody have any contact with them?

Thanks!

There are a few bugs still and the re-boot prompt is one of them. The other I know of is the auto changing of the Vista color scheme to Vista basic. As is I would still promote this as a very good remote program. Not sure what is going on with the development of One Click but wait for the next version and hope these two bugs are resolved.
