Is there a repeater I can use on my own website/webserver?
Hi guys,
My eyes are bloodshot from all the reading I've done on here in the past 3 hours. So I think I'm going to have to keep this short!
I regularly have to log into clients machines to fix things and have been using UltraSC and PHW to do this for a few years with great success.
Recently I've found myself out of the office where I work far more frequently - but still needing to log into those same clients. However I tend to be in hotels/conferences etc when this happens and so I have NO way of modifying firewalls to allow the PHW or SC to connect to my new location.
it is obvious to me that I need to use a "repeater service" to allow me to make an outbound connection and allow my client to make an outbound connection - which will then "join us up".
However, from all my reading here in the forums all I can see is Windows based repeater programmes or at best some linux sources to be used on a spare linux box connected to the Internet.
I do not have any spare boxes that are connected to the Internet, and usually my work PC is switched off when I'm away from the office (by the cleaners!). We do however have an linux based webserver - which runs our website. This webserver is on a shared server - it is not our own.
Are there any programmes or scripts etc that can run on a Web server and provide the same service as the normal repeater programme bundled with ultraVNC?
Is there better way to do what I'm looking for? Thanks a lot if you can give me a hand.[/code]

Just thinking out loud here.
If I purchased a linux shell (from some company on the internet) would that work as my extra box attached to the internet?

Wow posted 1 sec apart.
Is it possible to host your own?
I CAN'T use my work pc cos it will probably have been switched off back in the office!
My only problem with the public repeater is that it seems they are slightly unreliable? I see quite a few threads with people asking to reset the server etc.public repeater there are two

Re: Is there a repeater I can use on my own website/webserve
yes repeater01.uvnc.info
is reset every 12 hours
I know because it is on my equipment. The internet is causing some of that and the repeater needs some work..
It works the best if you host your own

Re: Is there a repeater I can use on my own website/webserve
Ok sorry for being stupid/repetitive but I HAVE searched for this:
Is there a webserver compatible ultravnc repeater? I don't have my own linux box, but I do have a linux/apache webserver that runs our website from a reputable webs host company.

Errr, well you see that's my problem really. I don't have a spare box to run on the internet:
From my first post:
From my first post:
Hence I was looking for a webserver/linux based approach. But of course I can't compile or run binary files on my hosted website, I was wondering if there was any way around that.I do not have any spare boxes that are connected to the Internet, and usually my work PC is switched off when I'm away from the office (by the cleaners!).
Re: Is there a repeater I can use on my own website/webserve
contact a linux shell provider and ask if they can set up one for you.
Re: Is there a repeater I can use on my own website/webserve
You could also use pchelpware in direct mode instead of repeater..
You can get it to use only two ports and if not using ssl they can be anything you want them to be 80 , 110 whatever you wish
So any machine would do if it had access to the internet.
If not the only other alternatives would be to use public repeaters or purchase a server with the ability to add serviceses too.. (bascially you would have to purchase a decated server and not shared)
