Which IP address do I give and is port opening safe?

Post by joe avarage »

When creating a new server what IP address do I put in?
Is that safe to give my ip address (the viewer)?
I could not get a direct connection to work until I managed to open port 5500 for proxy servers at client computer (using zone alarm). Is is it safe to open ports?

Since repeater method seems to work without fiddling with ports and such can I have a repeater and viewer working in the same computer. Why should direct connection have to have a port open and in repeater method not?
I don't think telling my customers to open their port is an option since many don't know how to do it.

I think you missunderstand the principle of pchelpware.
this a reverse connection like call back.

pchelpware_server contact your pcelpware_viewer
then pchelpware_viewer autoconnected to pchelpware_server.

you create the server from your viewer one time, then you give it to your customer from your website or whatever.

pchelware_server run to customer. (remote)
pchelpware_viewer (local) is run on your computer and open port 5500 to your own firewall and nat router (not at your customer side anyway)

The thing that puzzles me that I DO not have port 5500 open on my viewer site. Just checked.

opening port 5500 at side of viewer NAT router/firewall is required for direct mode.
