Error: Your connection has been rejected

Post by Hickory420 »

Hello everyone!
OK, here it is. I am trying to connect to my home computer from work (I am in the IT Dept) and I make a successful connection because I get the password dialog box. Now, when I type in my password through the normal "Start->All Progs->UltraVNC->UltraVNC Viewer", it just disappears.........
Ok, so I try through the web browser http://myIPaddress:5800 Java started, I verified the java certificate, and prompted me for a password, Sweet! NOT!!! When I type in my password, i get the following message:

Error: Your connection has been rejected

My question: Why?? and what can I do to fix it?

However, when I was at Home setting up the vnc server, I did a remote desktop to my computer at Work from Home. I tested it via the start menu, and it worked, yes I got the window within a window within a window thing goin....

Thank you everyone!!

I'm having the exact same issue.
I'm not sure why the above thread was linked, as it presented no solution other than to try to connect with the viewer, which the original poster of this thread initially tried, as did I.

- UltraVNC Viewer client loads, connects, asks for password, accepts the password, and then terminates with no error message.

- Java viewer loads in the browswer window, asks for password, and then displays "Error: Your connection has been rejected."

- This only occurs on a remote system; within my home LAN both the viewer client and the java browser connection worked perfectly (it's so frustrating to test a connection and have it work perfectly when you're there to fix any problems, and then leave for the day and find you have no access to your machine remotely, and no way to fix it because you have no access to your machine remotely!)

- It's an UltraVNC-specific problem; RealVNC was working perfectly for days, but I uninstalled it because I wanted to take advantage of UltraVNC's built-in file transfer and enhanced video driver. It's looking like I may be forced to go back. :(

I see.
Input noted.
Two people are having a specific problem, but because everything is working fine on some forum moderator's computer, it must not be important

I have to agree with misguided, we need a little bit more than 3 lines of text for help...

I have set all the port forwarding address correctly (Because i get the password prompt non-domain) I have a 7 character password, the loopback connection works localhost or 127.0.0.1. I run AMD with windows xp sp2 with a cable internet connection. If there is any additional information you need, let me know and I will give it. I just need this to work.

I am happy with 1.0.2 until there is a stable release for 1.0.3 then I will upgrade. I am not a tester, I am a user.

Now, i saved the "best" part for last. I have 2 computers running vnc server at home. My computer (the one that it wont work on) and my storage computer.
Storage computer specs:
Windows 2000 sp4 | Pentium 4 | Same internet connection | Same password | VNCviewer port: 5901 | http java port: 5801|
Basically what I am going to say is that it works........
From work I can vnc to my storage computer via the view and my browser?.?.?.?.? I don't know if it's because it's win2k, but i doubt it. I have yet to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of vnc on my main machine and when I do, I will post the result.
I will not sleep until this works!!!!!!!!!!!! well, i probably will sleep since sleep is good, but i won't give up!!!!!!!!!!

unless i've been keying my password incorrectly for the last 2days........
i had not tried the viewer, up till now, only the browser
so finally i tried with the viewer and bingo first try, good connection, so....
right after disconnecting the viewer session, i tried the browser and bingo suddenly that worked???????????????????????
hate that
so at this point, the evidence seems to suggest that you (me in this case) cannot connect with a browser until at least one good connection with the viewer? if thats the way it works, so be it, but seems kind of/very strange
i can also connect with my domain name, but i've never been sure if when i use the domain name on my lan if it truly goes 'out' thru the internet to make the connection, i do not use a my own dns server

Ok, I have un-installed and re-installed vnc on my main machine at home, and now i'm here at work, and it works! It's really really slow, but it works (works, as in, making a successful connection). I was not able to use my computer remotely because I have a high resolution desktop with a high res wallpaper, so, I might have to chunk that down a bit. But the connection works. I have used no fixes or patches, just a good old fashioned un-install re-install. I recommend trying that before trying the patches.

Note: Be sure to tick "Clean old vnc registry values" (or something along those lines) near the end of your re-installation

And, for whoever is interested. I have a vb script that will silently install vnc on a remote machine. works best in a domain environment (as a domain admin or equivalent) It only takes a minute to get a remote machine under your control. Its great! I love it!

Just send me a message and I will send you the goodies!
