Need help

Post by siegfried »

Hi all,

I tried to replace SC with PCHelpware but did not get it to run.

I want to use a direct connection because I have a static IP Adress. But first I would like to test ist in my network (192.168.0.0/24).

The viewer has IP 192.168.0.100 (XP) the server 192.168.0.30 (Vista)

1. I tried to create a server:
- direct connection, Port 5500, alias: Reichmann, PW: 1234 (as statet in the docs this should be enough for direct access).
- start button: 'bind failed' the debug says:
fh = 3
start 5500 0
-- der Vorgang wurde erfolgreich beendet
- create server button: (1) 'Failed to Set dynalias'
(2) 'Failed to find external ip adress'

My questions: What is wrong? What program must I start for listening (PCHelpware_viewer.exe?)

Any hints welcome, thank you.

That means the port 5500 was already used by other application. Did you have other program (e.g. vncviewer.exe) occupying this port when running the test?

The very first step is create a server. After enter & save of your setting, go on click the "Create Server" to produce the server .

Failed to Set dynalias -- an internal problem of uvnc.com server, just ignor it.
Failed to find external ip adress -- PcHelpWare tries to determine the WAN IP of your pc, as it supposes the created server will make connection to this pc via internet. So again, ignor it and click OK.

AFTER THAT, a window (title: Server ip address) will pop up, enter the IP that the PcHelpWare Viewer will run. In your case, that is: 192.168.0.100

Then another window pop up "Does the user need to enter password"
Select Yes -- the password is required manually input into the server.
Select No -- the password is saved with the created sevver.

Yet another window pop up, say: "Command Line Syntax", just click OK.

Well, there are still 1/2 windows pop up, asking about the replace of files "Background", "Icon", "Helpdesk" -- all click Yes

Finally, a script will run, and the server will be created and saved at:
PcHelpWare Folder\myservers\Reichmann\PcHelpWare_server.exe

The .exe is the server file to be run on the 192.168.0.30 (Vista).

Now, you can try the connection, but..
1. The viewer must be started to wait for connection first.
2. You have fixed bind error problem mentioned before.

Thank you very much, you were right, Port 5500 was used by the listening vncviewer which I loaded in autostart. It works now, also from outside the firewall.
