Really Slow

Post by BB »

I started using PC Helpware over Single Click. It's pretty darn slow. I have two XP machines that I am testing it on and whether I use Direct Connection or VIA Repeater, it's the same speed. Is there a way to speed this thing up.....a lot? I heard there is a mirror driver for Ultra VNC, will it work with PC Helpware?

Where is this driver and how do you apply it?

It's located in the drivers directory of the download package. There are separate versions for XP/2000 and Vista and each has an install batch file.

Any method to get it to run when user clicks on the exe.

Or do I have to:
1. Get connected to users pc
2. When control gained download and load driver on users pc myself
3. Hope he doesn't get worried about what I'm doing and close me out (ahem)

Is there a way to repackage the exe to use the video hook?

PChelpWare uses up all the CPU so that the screen update or any other tasks get real slow. This slowness is not acceptable at all.

I've tried to install drivers too, but not remedied the slow speed.

The speed and reliability is the most important things.

Can someone help on this slow problem?

Thats a damn shame, as it looks like pcHelpware will be going in the bin for me due to the slowness and unreliability. Could have been excellent.

is this speed issue confirmed to be hard coded (CPU Cycles by Rudi).
Has anyone been able to fix the speed issues. What is the latest build of the server and has anyone been able to load the mirror/video driver dynamicly.

We switched to PCHW because we found SC did not work well on Vista.

PCHW is too slow. On good connections/good pipes, it is OK. But certainly slower than SC.

Loading the mirror/video hook driver is not an option for us, since we never know what client will need help.

Dropping video resolution "quality" to medium kills the screen - too many drop outs. The fact that the viewer cannot see UAC dialog boxes is inconvenient, but we can live with it.

So we are hoping PCHW will be patched soon
