Mystified - SC crashes

Post by JDlugosz »

I created a SC and when I try it, after double-clicking on the connection the window closes, a bubble says it will try connecting for 5 minutes, and after a second or so then the process exits. There is no error message and nothing written to the NT Event Log. It just vanishes.

I tried that on a WMWare machine running XP Pro with nothing else installed, and the firewall turned off. I tried it on my regular desktop and gave the go-ahead to Zone Alarm when it asked. Same thing.

How do I even figure out what is wrong?

I thought about running the regular server, but could not figure out how to get it into reverse mode, to connect to the listening viewer.

i would probably just extract the EXE into a folder using 7-zip ... then, you can play with it without having the hassle of re-making the exe ...

first things first ... download "UltraVNC_SCManual" from this page ... (sameless self promotion) http://downloads.aus.st/JDsVNC/#links and try that out ...

NOTE: the SCManual app was made by someone else in this forum ... i just have it for my own testing purposes.

If you experience problems with that package as well ... i would look towards the viewer as a first place to start debugging ...

good luck
