I believe most SC users are techs who have written helpdesk.txt files where each entry represents the IP and Port of machines they might use to support a remote user. Then they port forward as needed on their firewall/router so their viewer.exe's can listen for and communicate with the remotes from behind their firewalls.
Most techs have limited time and would benefit from a single page instruction sheet on how to migrate from SC to PCHelpWare. Leave out the repeaters, dynalias, Upnp, Alias, passwords, encryption etc. If that doesn't exist I will write it and post here.
I tend to read the manual first and then do setups - I found much of the information presented on the web site and the manual unnecessary for migrating SC to PCHelpWare in the above scenario.
I did see one thread that used the scenario of how do I quickly get up and running to support "Mom" but even that one went into all the non-Direct Connection stuff.
Things like the lack of a viewer.exe -listen:port with hide to system try are confusing to SC users. Where's the listener? Oh - its the same app as the one that creates the server file.
I saw one thread where a user re-arranged the Connection window to be more logical - His suggestions would make setup much easier.
Sorry to be a bit cranky - really appreciate the work thats going into PCHelpWare and I'm excited about using encryption, repeaters etc but for now I just need to move my setup over quickly.

I'm looking forward to testing this, as I have been playing around and have been as of yet less than successful so far.dsteinschneider wrote:After several hours more perusing threads here and discovering how PcHelpWare_sc_gui works I'm closer to my goal.
