Java Viewer not connecting

Post by glen4cindy »

I am trying to use http://remotecomputer:5800/ to test the java viewer but nothing happens.

I have port 5800 forwarded on my router to my remote computer which has the 192.168.x.x address.

I am putting http://remotecomputer:5800/ into the address bar of the browser and replacing remotecomputer with the appropriate IP address, but, still nothing. Both work when trying to connect to the same computer, but with zillions of cascading screens. I will not connect to the other PC on my home LAN.

I have not tried this from outside my LAN. I only have 2 PC's running UVNC and have them set to different ports. One is 5800 and the other is 5802. I have both of these ports forwarded on my router, and UVNC viewer is working on and from both PC's, just not the java.

Is there something I am missing?

1. Please check if you had clicked "Enable Java Viewer" -- at Admin Properties of WinVNC server.
2. What IP had you entered at http://remotecomputer:5800/? Some routers have problem when resolving the WAN IP that pointing to itself. If you are testing inside your LAN, try using LAN IP first. (port forwarding is not necessary in this condition)

Thanks by the way, but,

Nevermind.

I had to add an exception to Windows Firewall for port 5800.

Thanks!
