PCHW via repeater: A bit slower than SC ?

Post by Bmull »

We upgraded to PHW with PHW_Repeater
Firewall is forwarding 5500/5901/443

HTTPS is nice, performance does not seem to change

We have multiple hosts in our helpdesk.txt file, such as:
(Many thanks for STICKY forum post on "new gui" )

[HOST]
Support 1
-connect remote.domain.com:5500 -id 13571 -proxy

1. PHW seems a bit slower than SC (on XP Pro to XP Pro testing)

Setting the viewer to MEDIUM does not change much, and we get lots of drop-outs that can be cleared by the "refresh" button.

-We have the 2 DLL patches
-There is no way to drop speed once the session is established?

Any other ideas for fast performance (typing delays/etc)

2. Is there a way we can exit -- like SC -- and leave no trace of the host/server?
When we are done with the remote/viewer session, we click on the "X".

The end user is then prompted with the connection list again. Any way to stop this?

We tried right click/END of PHW icon in the viewer/user's systray - did not work.

With SC, we would end session and the server would be gone.

In PHW, this is probably by design.

3. With multiple hosts in helpdesk.txt, this does one not work:
[HOST]
Enter ID
-connect remote.domain.com:5500 -id ask -proxy

"ask" switch is not prompting the viewer/user on startup.

thanks for ideas

Repeater is a tad slower plus the encryption engine. The fastest connection would be direct with pchw. The mirror driver will help connection refreshes..:)

Is there linux repetaer yet for PCHW?
I know we are using v14 of the linux repeater with a bit of modification for logging to our SQL server. Thanks in advance.

The "-id ask" cannot be used in multiple hosts helpdesk.txt (SC_GUI server). This is the format used in the new PHW-server (one host only).

You can have the similar function on SC_GUI server with the [ENTERCODE] directive. However, when [ENTERCODE] is used, multiple host will not be supported. :(
