Hope someone here can help me.
I've had abit of a look around in the FAQ and done search but cant seem to find anything related.
Basically, I open up the viewer, connect to the server. Connects fine. I enter in the password click 'Log On'. It looks like its about to open (Thin black line like the top of a window appears for about 1 second, then it disappears and VNC viewer has closed.)
This is occuring with all clients who try to connect to this server. (So it seems to be server side.)
The above is the MAIN symptom, however occasionally it will also say that my connection was refused/rejected.
Restarting the VNC server seems to fix the problem, but it seems to return soon after. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
- Michael

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
Did you happen to install the UltraVNC Server using remote desktop? This is know to cause problems.
Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
No, it was installed locally.
Also just noticed something else. I was just using it, and it just 'kicked me out'. Just out of nowhere disconnected me, and now I cant get back in. Saying "Failed to connect to server."
Is there some kind of 'timeout' limit that disconnects a user after a certain period?

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
The only thing that should disconnect uvnc is stability of the network..
There are some bugs some users have been having issues with version 1.02 not being as stable..

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
Is there any specific software that is installed that is different from any of the other machines? (antivirus, firewall)
Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
No...nothing has changed. (VNC always to work on this machine, and nothing has changed).
'Kill all clients' seems to fix the connection issue, so it seems like the viewer is being disconnected, but the server still thinks thats it is connected, so its not letting it connect again.
So from an operational stand-point its not a disaster, but still having to call up the location where the computer is located and getting them to kill the clients every time this happens is abit of a pain, especially when it never happened before.
There doesn't seem to be any network issues, because I can ping the location just fine while I am still unable to connect via VNC.

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
Hi, I met the same problem!
UVNC worked for months (and years) and now -
I am abroad - the same happens: After password
authentication the viewer is kicked out.
I was phoning with a collegue several times.
He restarted my remote server.
Checked UVN, checked the Firewall settings.
But didn't find anything strange.
Then he installed the newest viewer version
on his PC and met the same problem!
Normally there shouldn't be any
change of the server system though, well,
the server being online for months could
have caught a virus?

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
Managed to resolve this problem. (atleast for now).
Reinstalls of VNC (same version, 1.02) on both Client and server. Doesn't seem to be occuring anymore.
Maybe there was something buggy somewhere, or the service was playing up. Not too sure. But its ok for the moment.

I wish I could say the same.
Had all reinstalled - no effect.
Curiously: My collegue now succeeded to log in from his client.

Re: UltraVNC viewer closes after authentication
I'm sitting with exactly the same problem.
I'm running 1.0.2 on both server & viewer.
Just had a fresh install on viewer - no success. Program "closes" directly after login. I can see the remote desktop for a second or so, but then the viewer closes.
Will lappreciate ANY help.
