So far I am very pleased with UltraVNC RC18
But I have some questions that I can't find documentation to answer.
1. I have VNC repeater running as a service on my MS Server.
I noticed the following
Top 5 Processes by CPU Usage
Process Name - ID CPU Time
vnc_repeater - 2212 41.5 %
csrss - 660 40.2 %
ntbackup - 6600 11.6 %
svchost - 1228 2.8 %
wmiprvse - 3768 2.7 %
Repeater is eating up 41% of my cpu time.
2. Thought I should download V2 of the repeater.
The dl.ultravnc.net link takes me to
http://ftp.erm.tu-cottbus.de/ultravnc/
which is a dead link as of 10/22/04 8:00am CST.
3. I am unable to use the Java viewer.
I have MS logon set, and even though I have a standard password set as well it generates an error.
4. I use the repeater to connect to most of my systems.
it is a pain to have to type the url plus port number each time into the proxy repeater box. Can links or shortcuts be created that will start the viewer with the all the boxes filled in for site?
5. I noticed another RC program where the tech was watching several systems at once tiled.
Can this be done with UltraVNC?
I realize I can open serveral instances of VNC but what was special was that the shrunken windows were reduced so you had a miniture full screen. With VNC you can shrink but only get to see a part of the screen.
6. On several occasions I messed up and misstyped a system name so the connection would fail. The connection box does not go away for a long time. Cancel has no effect. I have had to kill it from the task mgr. I believe it will close eventually but I am usually under the gun and can't wait.
Thanks
John

2. yeah its down for me too. should be back soon.
5. under connection options theres 'viewer scale' i think thats what your looking for.
6. yes.. it does that. just leave it and open another. im running test19_10 and it still does that. the newer test19_12 might not, but probably does. its still not version 1.0 though, so.. meh.

JVH,
I have found the RC16 Repeater works well. I have posted some instructions on setting it up here.
