SC related - Conn failed - Error reading Protocol Ver

Post by neville310 »

I am using UltraVNC viewer (listening mode) in conjunction with Single Click. The following error message appears every five minutes whether connected to the Single Click server or not.
Connection failed - Error reading Protocol Version

Possible causes:
-You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses a DSMPlugin
-Viewer and Server are not compatable (they use different RFB protocoles)
-Bad Connection

The scenario happens without anyone connecting to my VNC viewer (even if my computer is doing nothing). The viewer is listening on port 5900 and should not be conflicting with any other application. People can connect to my server with SC, yet this error may cause them to disconnect when left unattended (when you connect and do nothing). The server is on my computer through a router, which has 5900 port forwarded.

Please give me some guidance on the error messages and the random disconnections. I have not tried a different port since I already created the Single Click executable with port 5900. I need to troubleshoot the scenario before telling my client to use another custom.exe. How can you check if the issue really occurs due to the ISP controlling the port (I have TWC on my end).

open port 5500 not 5900
your viewer need listen port 5500 for accept SC
so your own router need port forward 5500 to your vncviewer computer ip/host
viewer use port 5900 for outgoing connection nor incoming !

SC outgoing connection tcp port 5500 to vncviewer listening on incoming port tcp port 5500
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home
