VISTA: User account control prompts
VISTA: User account control prompts
PHW with Repeater. On Vista, definately faster than SC !
Problem:
We grab a user's PC for remote helpdesk support. Works great - get to the user in about 4 clicks
On Vista, when we go to install an application, Vista will prompt a dialog box:
"User Account Control
A program needs your permission to continue"....
On the VIEWER we do NOT see this box.
We have to ask the end user to click allow....
Is this expected?
thanks
Bill

Version 1 may also work if you install the mirror driver.. It is just a thought i did not test this theory..

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
This was a test release made with PcHelpware Code...
It act as vnc, viewer connect to server...no invers connections gui etc..
We used this test to prepare the Vista update for UltraVNC and PcHelpware (gui/SC)...

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
Thanks for help guys.
We only use the REPEATER, (clients come in through our firewall for remote helpdesk) so I think we will have to wait until PHW updates.
PHW is slower than SC, with repeater, but PHW is solid with VISTA, so we have been using only PHW.
Looking forward to the updates.
If you want us to test, send our way -- especially for repeater PHW use.

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
I forgot to add this:
PHW is slower than SC for us, via Repeater
BUT on PHW, helpdesk.txt :
Support1
-connect domain.com:5500 -id 13571 -proxy
We did not use PROXY on SC. Maybe the 443 overhead is a lot more? I thought PCs are so fast now, that no one would notice the SSL overhead.
We can CERTAINLY go back to 5500/5901 if it improves our speed
Should we drop -proxy?
thanks

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
Thank you for the help... I am very eager to see a new release of PCHelpware that beats the UAC. We have multiple vista clients that we're stuck with. Keep up the great work!

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
The link doesn't work anymore.
I'm already using PHW 1.0.0 but I already have problems with UAC and Vista.
Can someone help?

Re: VISTA: User account control prompts
Only 104RCX can handle UAC, pchelpware will be updated after 104 release.

>pchelpware will be updated after 104 release
Any rumors on the time frame for the PCHW new updates?
The UAC prompt is one thing, but the biggest problem on PCHW 1.0 is the slow screen refresh / lag. We thought about going back to VNC SC for better performance, but we prefer PCHW since it is the future and works with Vista.
thanks
