Please Help

Post by SCSIman »

This is DRIVING me nuts!

I have been using UltraVNC SC successfully for the past 6 months. Some time over the last week something happened....

People download the SC and run it, it connects to me, but all I get is a black screen! And no data going in or out.

I have Fast User Switching disabled on my machine.

It connects - I get exactly 308 bytes recieved and then nothing but a black screen and no control of the remote PC of course.

Any ideas?

A black screen means that a firewall is blocking after a few bytes that are sent.

I have seen black screens with the UltraVNC Server (not SC, but it's the same program) when the machine with the server had Fast User Switching enabled and more than one user logged in at the same time. You mentioned that you have FUS disabled, but since you are the viewer, it seems that the FUS limitation would be on your clients end.

More information --

On Verizon DSL clients no problem!

Time Warner Road Runner = Problem! They are converting Adelphia customers to roadrunner. This must be the problem as the Time Warner customers are the only one's I'm having issues with.

Have you thought about PCHelpware or trying other ports?
