Encryption failing?

Post by Timit »

I setup Pchelpware and it works great on LAN. When I use it on the web it blows up. On my end I see it try to connect (I am the the server listening port 5506) but if fails and says:

Start Encryption, waiting server
Network stopped, closing viewer

Now on the client side I see:

Failed to connect
A connection attempt failed because the connected party di
Init Network failed

^^Notice the "connected party di" is incomplete. I can't see the other half of the error ! ! ! In any rate I think it is because our Cisco Pix 501 has port 443 forwarded to out domain controller. Is this failing because of encryption? If so can I change the encryption port?

You can disable port 443 in the viewer option. Also uncheck the Upnp as well.
Are you using a repeater??

No direct connection. We have say a dozen computers, each with a different port. I need to be able to make exe's like I did for SC VNC.

To turn off or disable 443 how to do that? I don't see any options like that at all. I tried to connect after removing UPnP and that did nothing.

I don't see how I can use this with encryption because I need 443 pointing to my DC. I want to turn off encryption but I read it is "Hard coded" into Pchelpware. If I could keep the direct connection, not use the repeater, and explicitly say use port:xxxx for encryption that would be ideal. Honestly I would like to use the same port for both communication and encryption.

On that note it appears the only way to change the SSL port 443 is to use the repeater, is that correct?

direct connection should not be a problem. must be the cisco blocking the traffic on port 5500 for station 1 and 5501 station 3 5503 etc..

create a alias and password for each connection as well as the server.exe for each one.

Does it work if you use the zero connection topic as test?? it is listed as a stickie

Read failed

Encryption failed, if using a proxy, new repeater listening to 443 . . .

I had tried that prior. I want to just not use encryption, that would resolve this issue. All this started because of aproblem with VNC SC and Vista, but thats neither here nor there. My goal is to get this to work without a repeater.

There has to be a a way.

Too keep my information consistant I have ports 5500-5509 forwarded. Each port goes to a computer, each computer is essentially a VNC server. We now use a VNC SC compiled exe, which I want to replace with PCHelper. I have explicitly forwarded these ports in the Cisco device, and I can successfully use SC through it. It has to be port 443 that is the problem, even with the repeater that I used in the sticky thread. Port 443 is forwarded to my DC which is directed away from the computers that have ports 5500-5509 assigned. Thats why I feel turning off encryption would be ideal, or just change the SSL port.

the repeater uvnc.com sometimes has issues at times
reater01.ultra.vnc.info does not support port 443

the zero configuration posts even shows the option being unchecked..:)

i was just curious if it would work as a test to see if that would work..:)

did you check and see if ports 5500 -5509 are open

If they are not saying open when testing from their respective machines that are forwarded then something is wrong.

Also did you see the sc/gui section on the pchelpware page. That is the same as single click and maybe easier..:)

I tried the port detection but it says closed for half of the ports, and stealthed for the other half. I can verify all are open, because I can use VNC SC using the same ports which I explicitly specified in the listener and it works. Kind of loss for words how the port detection said half were stealthed and the other half was closed.

I can't explain it, but the SC version of PChelpware works just fine . . . I changed nothing. I guess it doesn't matter, as long as it works with Vista.
