I'm going crazy trying to set the password

Post by sebenste »

Hello all,

Well, after a reboot of my computer with VNC on it as a server, I cannot log in anymore. At first, it rejected my connection. Now, it says that I don't have a valid password set. I have tried numerous passwords of various lengths up to 10 characters, hit the APPLY button each time, and it still won't let me in because "This server does not have a valid password enabled. Until a password is set, incoming connections cannot be accepted.". I am using 1.02. Can anyone help?

I don't think so. I killed the VNC server using task manager. How do I "gracefully" shut down the service? There's no apparent way to, unless I am totally missing something.

Click Start, Run, type services.msc and hit Enter. The service is called VNC Server. The FAQ suggests starting it manually so right-click on and select Start. After starting it, the FAQ suggests that you set the password. Any luck?

How about this FAQ, [topic=3276][/topic]?

After banging my head, I had to reload the Nvidia driver on the machine, reinstall UltraVNC, and hard-force the NVidia driver to force all connections to screen 1. That solved the problem. The more time passes, the more I like UltraVNC, and the less I like NVidia, which creates headaches on my Linux boxes, as well.

Thanks for your help, and sorry for the rambling out of frustration...
