Slow - am I doing something worng?

Post by mcrider »

I'm connecting two computers (notebooks) using the uvnc repeater and all seems to work but it is painfully slow. I've connected the same two computers using Teamviewer and the connections are very quick. Screen refresh is fast. On PcHelpWare it takes close to one minute to refresh after I open an application. Teamviewer is almost like you are sitting at that machine. I've installed the drivers but didn't seem to help. If this were a downlaoad speed problem why is Teamviewer so quick? I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions
Thanks

Are you using repeater01? It's located in the US so if you're not close that may be the source of your troubles. You may want to look into using a direct connection or setting up your own repeater.

I can connect using direct connect and it is much faster. Almost equal to Teamviewer. I'm also using the 'repeater01.ultravnc.info' as the repeater when using the internet. This is the slow connection. Do you think the bottleneck is in the repeater?

can be the bandwith to the repeater01 is not the greatest. It used for testing and because of encryption you need to need to have constant connection to the repeater. Depending on how much of the internet traffic i am running through my network would affect the speed. My upstream speed is not the fastest and that is most likely causing the real slow down..:(

What country are you in? Seems like distance plays a part as well.

I live in the USA. For what it's worth...I setup a repeated on our mail server. This works but no better than repeater01.ultravc.info. Still painfully slow. Any other ideas?

You mentioned that using the direct connection is fast. Is there some reason why you'd like to use a repeater?
