Help SC user move to PCHelpWare

Post by wilso027 »

I am a long time SC user, thanks it is great software. Thought it was time to try PCHelpWare. I have three computers at home that I use to help family and friends remotely. With SC they ran the exe and then click the entry I told them such as office, basement, extra. Can you have different options for the user to choose from so they can go to different computers to get help? If so can you point me in the right direction.

Also when I click on create server button it makes me enter a password and I don't want the users to have to enter a password. If I choose tell users not to enter password it will not connect saying password incorrect.

Thanks

Take a look at the GUI setup. This is similar to the original SC. You can have a list like SC. You will just need to use teh PCHelpware viewer with this.

I use a repeater so my family members always use the same EXE and the repeater handles the routing to the PC I'm using. You can either set up your own or use the one [topic=9600]here[/topic].

Your family members won't need to enter the password, but you will. If you use a password 7 characters or less, it will be saved in the PHW-file so you won't need to enter it either.

The viewer has more confusing view than the old sc connector. I thought I was the one that ran the viewer and they ran the exe that I sent them. How does the repeater help with sending the connection to the right location? Maybe I don't understand what to use the repeater for. I have complete control of my router so I was under the impression that I didn't need to use the reapeater.

Ok I found another post and see where you can customize the admin gui but I don't really see how to do. Just where it can be done. How do I change it to where it has multiple connect options?

PCHelpware server bin (GUI SC)

Is the location of the download for the SC GUI it is very very similar to SC except that the creater is included on the dowload..

Make changes to your helpesk.txt

Or just use your old helpdesk.txt file ..... Put your custom icons in the custom folder and your cusomizes helpdesk.txt in that folder.

Once that is completed run the create server.bat to create your self extracting exe then when you want to run your connection make sure that you start your pchelpware_sc viewer...

Pchelpware is completely different form uvnc and single click though so that requires that you use its viewer and not uvnc viewer..:)
