Question about driver - xp pro

Post by tinem »

When I click "Check the video Hook driver" I get this message what does it mean and why isn't the driver active?
And is it the best to have this driver active?
C:\WINDOWS \system 32\vncdrv.dll Version: 1.00 19
C:\WINDOWS \system 32\Drivers\vnccom .SYS Version: 1.0.0.17
C:\WINDOWS \system 32\Drivers\vncdrv.SYS Version: 1 00 .17

The driver is present
The communication service is present
The driver is NOT active

Ultravnc (des)active the driver, you need to check the driver status while
the viewer is connected.

When you use the driver, the cpu load of vnc is 5-10% while without
you can have 50% (depending on the polling mode). The driver is also
more accurate in detecting changes.
Because the driver also have an overhead, he is only used when you are
connected. When nobody is connected, the driver is passive and have
no influence on the system.

Thanks for your reply.

I only use it on my computer and people sharing my computer ONLY use Explorer and a javaapplet. This way they don't have to install anything. :-)

I had to check for the driver it it's active the next time I share my computer.

We use Wordpad to chat with each other.

Is it OK to use UltraVNC this way or would it be much better if the other person also install this fantastic free script?

you can use it that way if you wish. but if you are using version 1.01 or 1.02 then the viewer should have a chat option so that you dont have to use wordpad unless you want too..:)

The chat is on the viewer toolbar but if you are only using the java version I do not think it is an option.:(
