Hi.
Is there any way to create a batch or a vnc shortcut that would shutdown
the remote machine when trigered ?
I know there are plenty of softwares that can do that (shutdown, psshutdow, etc)
but fact is that with my 2 xp machines I´m simply not able to do it.
And believe me that I´ve tried hard.

Re: remote shutdown via command line or shortcut
I use UltraVNC to access the remote machine and then shut it down as if I were there. Start, Turn Off Computer, etc. Will that work for you?

No, unfortunately no.mattice06082 wrote:I use UltraVNC to access the remote machine and then shut it down as if I were there. Start, Turn Off Computer, etc. Will that work for you?
I use already vnc to acess network remote computers graphicaly with no
problem at all.
What I´m looking for is some kind of a comand in a script or so that in
case power fails the ups trigers it and shuts down the remote computer.
Have tried several solutions (shutdown, psshutdown, etc) but do no
suceed because of xp permissions or policies.
Since with UltraVNC we can log into the remote computers with no
problem was trying to figure out a solution with it.
Re: remote shutdown via command line or shortcut
Have you tried using WMI in a VBScript? It can be run remotely or on the local machine. I use something similar to remotely reboot our PCs. You said you're running XP so WMI is supported.

Re: remote shutdown via command line or shortcut
if psshutdn doesnt work you're admin$ shares are propably not functioning.
you could make a macro to shut em down with VNC but thats quite unpredictable. i suggest fixing the comps and use psshutdn
