This Visual C compiler libs are not always available on Vista.
MV.exe == server
PCHW_service.exe == service , the service start mv.exe
PcHelpWare_viewer.exe == viewer
SCHook.dll == hook dll for mouse shapes and change detection
settings.exe==set password and network card
Howto test
Server:
1) Copy all the files in the same directory
Run "install_service.bat"
to install the service ( run as admin)
Service name == MV_service_A
3) settings.exe
++set password
++select the network card used to bind the server to
settings are saved in a file, settings.phw in the current directory
2) start_service.bat
Viewer:
1) Run PcHelpWare_viewer.exe
When Firewall does not block server and viewer, viewer auto connect to server.
Only works when server and viewer are on the lan, same subnet.
( Auto discovery use broadcast)
Ports used
UDP 6999
tcp 5999
When autodetect failed, you can manual set an ip address via the viewer
menu. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
IP address, no DNS name.
WARNING....this test does not use encryption, password is passed PLAIN
The purpose of the test is to try if you can connect with
**Vista server
**XP + "Fast user switching"
This new method should also solve the issue's of " black screen"

I didnt have success upon connecting I tried vista server and winxp pro viewer in the same subnet.
However the uninstall.bat did remove the service..

If your PC has multiple cards, you need to run settings.exe to set the
network card the server use to listen to connections.
Standard he only bind to the first card..

Perhaps try it manual first...
Run mv.exe as application, when you are able to connect as application,
Let the service start mv.exe
Try also with firewalls disabled, could be a locking issue.

ok... will try to that.. when running as a service I am unblocking it. the viewer will bring up a dos box saying unable to read

It will work but will not automatically you have to manually enter the ip of the server into the viewer..
