An existing connection was forcibly closed

Post by arcadegalaxy »

I looked over the forums, but I can't seem to find a straight answer. I've used PcHelpWare between 2 computers in my house, and it works fine.

I'm trying to connect to a friends computer over the internet using uvnc.com as a repeater. the problem is he keeps getting the message "an existing connection was forcibly closed"

All I really want to know is if it an issue with his PC or Router, and if so, how it can be resolved.

Sounds like the repeater at uvnc.com is not working properly.. Try with your own repeater

I can almost sure this is an issue of the repeater at uvnc.com

I got the same error when using the repeater at uvnc.com and unable to determine what/where cause the problem -- until a user (Ron Van de lLisdonk) post a message that disclosed his own repeater. (Ref: [topic=9551][/topic])

Then I carried a test immediately. With the same ID & password I created two servers, one using repeater at uvnc.com, and the other one using Ron Van de Lisdonk's

When the server connect to uvnc.com run, the info windows showed these messages:
Start
Using Repeater
uvnc.com
ID:7321
Connect repeater success
Setting up encryption
Waitung for Viewer...
Read Failed
10054
Encryption failed, if using proxy, new repeater listening to 443 and ........
an existing connection was forcibly closed
an existing connection was forcibly closed
Init Network failed

When another server connected to Ron Van de Lisdonk's, the info windows showed these messages:
Start
Using Repeater
(Lisdonk's repeater)
ID:7321
Connect repeater success
Setting up encryption
Waitung for Viewer...

Then I start the viewer at anther PC. OK, they can connect using Lisdonk's repeater.
I don't think its the duplicate ID problem, becasue I had changed several and still getting same error. I found quite a lot of users had been reporting this problem, but looks like nobody at uvnc.com is willing to investigate this issue.

Hi,

The reason for disclosing the address for now and not blocking access to it is simply because i wantesd some other members to try it.

not that you have and it was OK i know that my issues lie in our internal nw.

the repeater is outside of our network and seeing that you had no issues, it must have been our firewall setup internally which blocks it.

As I have mentioned on the orriginal; posting I will leave this repeater open for another couple of days or so before starting to secure it.

I will post a message when it has been closed off.

Hi! Ron Van de Lisdonk,

You help me to clear my confusion.
Because I don't have the resource to set up my own repeater, so far I can't do a test separated from uvnc.com.

So now I know my hardware/software/router setting has no problem at all. Thanks.

Note to the admin. of uvnc.com:
I can connect to the repeater of uvnc.com in past (in January and before) with the same server, but after then I always get the "an existing connection was forcibly closed" error as I mentioned. I believe many user would like to see this to be fixed, as this is the key of NAT2NAT connection for those don't have their own repeater.
